DEMOCRATS are moving to get illegal votes legitimized

States don't get to decide who can vote (or not) without passing Constitutional muster, so I'd say your point is specious at best.

The 15th, 19th and 26th Amendments outlaw discrimination in voting on the basis of race, sex and age. States must conform constitutionally.

That is what I said. There is no "constitutional muster" about who can vote in the original document. It does not limit voting to citizens or any other group--that power was given to the states to determine voter qualifications. That power of the states was later limited by the 15th, 19th, 26th, and (we both forgot) the 24th Amendments. Those amendments and other court decisions (voter ID) limit the states' power to set qualifications and basically require states to allow all adults to vote.

States still determine if they have to be a citizens to vote in state-local elections but a 1996 federal law requires citizenship to vote in federal elections, residency requirements, registration requirements, felony convictions, etc. So, there is nothing in the Constitution making voting a constitutional right but since states are very limited in who they can prohibit from voting it almost makes it a right.

If Floriday restores voting to felons it will be like most other states which already do so.

That will be a mistake in my view. If criminals don't suffer the consequences of their actions, why should they refrain from committing more criminal acts? The fact is that a lot of them do, according to statistics.

I also believe that punishment meted out to criminals acts as a deterrent to those contemplating crimes in some cases.

Criminals have broken the social contact of their own volition. Society is not required to grant them absolution.

If it's not in the Sentencing from the Judge then it's .... wait

Come on folks, let's just be honest here ... we all know the real reason why Conservative/Republicans want to deplete the Vote Rolls.

well yeah, to fuck over lib'ruls......next question?.....

I don't understand your focus on a handful of felons convicted of federal crimes in the context of this discussion.

I'm saying some crime are so heinous that people convicted of those crimes should never have their rights restored.
Examples:
Spying
Child abuse
Hate crimes

Understand it now?

Excuse the fuck out of me! I only used one example instead of spoon feeding you! I really thought you were bright enough to understand the concept but clearly I was wrong.

Clearly you should consider what you post and make sure it articulates your meaning, since child abuse and hate crimes don't involve betraying our country, selling our secrets, or spying on our country.
