The Weaponization of the EPA Is Over: An Exclusive Interview With Scott Pruitt

would you like to expand on what Trump is doing to pollute?

I don't even know what that means. Are you aware of what he has done to common sense regulations & enforcement? Environmental prosecutions alone under Trump are expected to be the lowest that they've have been in over 2 decades.

Every measure Trump has made on this issue favors polluters.

It goes like this:

1) Regulations prevent pollution
2) Deregulation allows more pollution
3) Trump is deregulating

I hope I have cleared up this immensely complex issue.

pathetic..so you're telling us rolling back Ozone numbers to pre-Obma limits above 70 PPB is allowing more pollution?

bear in mind locating a dry cleaners on a city block usually puts the numbers above 70 ppb

The wastewater plant where my dad works was given an (unfunded) EPA mandate that would prevent the plant from destroying the waste on-site. The alternative was that the city would contract a fleet of trucks to cart it all over to Eastern WA for disposal (a less eco-friendly solution). I never did find out what the current situation with this is.

So, yeah, deregulation leads to more pollution, Lorax. This type of stuff happens all over the place.

There are SOME that I'd support, and most would.

But why are you cherrypicking?

but that was thematic of the Obama EPA. and I'm not even talking abut the Paris Accord
where the US would be subsidizing China and India

The nasty algae bloom all over Florida was a direct result of Florida's refusal to abide by EPA regulations.. and then Florida demanded that the Feds pay to clean it up.

you should cite your assertions..over production of fertilizers that accumulate in Lake Okeechobee has long been a problem

No specifics. You didn't read the link in the OP did you?

I assume you're aware of what deregulation does?

I can't believe this is even a conversation.

I was in Utah last year meeting with some folks there that were building a subdivision, and there was an Army Corps of Engineers representative that was standing outside the subdivision with me, and he pointed to an ephemeral drainage ditch and he said, “Scott, that’s a water of the United States.” And I said, “Well, it’s not gonna be anymore.”

That’s exactly the kind of attitude that drove the past administration. It was all about power. It wasn’t about outcomes necessarily. It was about power and picking winners and losers, and we’re getting that corrected.
Deregulation of over-regulation is a correction.

Have you ever had an interaction with the EPA?
The words of Scott Pruitt.

When you look at who’s led the world in CO2 reduction, it’s us. From the year 2000 to 2014, we reduced our CO2 footprint almost 20 percent through innovation and technology. So, we have nothing to be apologetic about as a country, and yet, the past administration went to Paris, hat in hand, and said, “Penalize our economy”, which is what happened with the Clean Power Plan.

The president saying no to that and putting America first was the tremendously courageous and right thing to do. I’m very excited about that decision. I know he talked about that in his speech and it was a wonderful decision he made, and I think great for the American people.

Overall, this regulatory reform agenda—this regulatory certainty that we’re about—is achieving good things for the environment, but it’s also achieving, as you say, good things for our economy. We can do both. And I think that’s what’s key.

No, it's not. The EPA is no longer free to circumvent congress to illegally make laws.

It’s called the administrative rules process. Congress can’t even wipe its own ass, much less interpret complex issues involving pollution standards.

Now WTF did WOTUS have to do with interpreting even simple pollution standards? Nothing. It was a power grab.
