According to witnesses, he had at least six rum and cokes and two heinekens between 4:30 and 11:15
I would bet that if if he took a breathalyzer he would have blown at least a 0.08 which by today’s standards would be legally drunk.
Also, the mere fact of leaving the scene automatically increases suspicion that the driver was drinking.
I also suspect that isn’t a full accounting of what he drank that day.
Lastly, did you know that Teddy’s chauffeur was on the island? Why didn’t Teddy just have the chauffeur drive Mary Jo back? Why did he have to do it?
Why was there a party for five married guys and five single women?
Based on the known timeline, there is an hour that is unaccounted for.
Here is what I think happened. This is my opinion and I know libtards will cry foul over it, but I don’t care
1) Mary Jo wanted to leave and Teddy offered to drive her
2) They had sex. I believe this is the reason that an autopsy was never done. It would have discovered that Mary Jo had sex. That would have been a huge scandal for both families.
3) While driving Mary Jo back to the ferry or the cottage, Kennedy encountered Deputy Sheriff Christopher Look who testified to seeing Teddy’s car at 12:45.
4) After seeing the sheriffs car, Teddy panicked. He was drunk, didn’t have a license, is in a car in the middle of the night with a single woman AND he had a long history of irresponsible behavior.
5) He took off trying to get away and lost control of the car and killed Mary Jo
6) the coverup begins
It was vehicular homicide.
There was no intent to kill,
in fact, it can't be proven beyond a reasonable doubt that he even knew she was in the car.

Runeatic up to his usual tricks, there is no way Ted Kennedy weighed 20 stone back in 1969. Pretty sure that he had a lot more than that to drink, anywhere else but Massachusetts and he'd have been charged with manslaughter at the very least.

The body was whisked away to a Pennsylvania funeral home, for fairly obvious reasons.
The DA in Massachusetts later applied for court order in Pennsylvania to have her body exhumed so that an autopsy could be performed. Despite a Martha’s Vineyard medical examiner’s stating that she had drowned, many remained sceptical. This included the diver who pulled her from the car, who argued Kopechne suffocated after oxygen ran out of an air pocket she was breathing in the car.

I have been message boarding for over a decade, and I never cease to be amazed at how many threads deplorables have started complaining about Kennedy, LBJ, Robert Byrd, the southern Dixiecrats.

This affinity for clinging to events that happened in the days of our parents and grandparents is....freakishly weird!
