"Did the democrat party which controlled Congress and the purse strings have any role? Or do you subscribe to the singular branch theory of American politics?" IA #10
"For 6 of Reagan's 8 years...THE REPUBLICANS controlled the Senate...and in all 8 years of Reagan's terms...he had more than enugh Senate votes to sustain a veto." FA #12
"Go look at the his proposed budget when he first took office. He tried to cut spending but the U.S. isn't a monarchy where the president can do what he wants and the democratic controlled said essentially told him to F off. But yeah, he's a hypocrite because he's not king. Makes sense" c #11
a) Please inform us IA #10 & c #11 how many times in 8 years President Reagan vetoed a U.S. federal budget bill;
you know, the ones that became law, and more than doubled the federal debt.
b) Governor Reagan campaigned on fiscal conservatism, NOT on winning the Cold War, or SDI.
But toward the end of his presidential tenure, Reagan shoved fiscal responsibility down the river, in his mad scheme to render ICBMs "impotent & obsolete" (take that Putin!).
But if anyone here is still pretending Reagan didn't lie, I'll post his confession.
FIRST: THE LIE
"We did not, repeat did not trade weapons, or anything else, for hostages; nor will we."
President Reagan, * November 13, 1986
THE CONFESSION
"A few months ago I told the American People I did not trade arms for hostages. My heart and my best intentions still tell me that's true. But the facts and the evidence tell me it is not." March 4, 1987
Reagan lied
The Republican demigod lied.
And looky who we have as president now.
Thank the GOP
c) If the presidency is as impotent as you pretend it to be, then please explain why candidate Reagan campaigned on it.
Did Reagan not know Democrats existed while he campaigned.
Do you you know how I know Reagan knew about Democrats? Because Reagan used to be Democrat.
d)
"You and I as individuals can, by borrowing, live beyond our means, but for only a limited period of time. Why, then, should we think that collectively, as a nation, we are not bound by that same limitation?" Ronald Reagan's First Inaugural Address, 1981
Reagan lied. Reagan pretended to be a conservative until he took the white house.
After that Reagan did whatever the $#@! he wanted.
Have a nice day.
