Trickle down voodoo-economics at work....

What you are leaving out of these equations is spending. Contrary to popular belief that Regan slashed spending it grew at a large pace. Just as spending has pretty much since. Reagan's tax cuts ushered in an economic boom in the '80's that went for over a couple of decades.

First, I am not going to indulge you in pretending that we have not heard over an over for three decades the rightwing mantra "Tax cuts pay for themselves!"

Second, George Dumbya and Donald Trump did not propose and enact massive spending cuts in concert with their tax bills, to make it all balance out. So the "coulda, woulda, shoulda, if, maybe, perhaps" hypothetical argument just does not cut it...it is moot at best...an exercise in abject excuse-making at worst.

I am not going to argue that there was significant economic, if totally uneven, economic growth in the 1980s. The investor class, the white collar services industry, the wealthy, and the Pentagon related industries did remarkably well. The working class, the blue collar, the poor, and minorities in general did not see the benefits the investor class did. And I do not accept the premise that Reagan's ill-advised, deficit-causing tax cuts should be hailed as the golden age of fiscal logic. Reagan also wanted, proposed, and got massive spending increases in defense related industries, wars on drugs, and his administration had to spend the last 6 years in office trying to find revenue and raising taxes because of the enormous budget deficits they caused with their 1981 tax cut scheme.

Not defending Trump's budgets, but if the democrats had won, we would still see huge deficits. It would just be for different reasons.

yeah, infrastructure which would create good paying jobs. Tax cuts for the middle class, too.

Middle class got tax cuts and Trump has called for $1.5T in infrastructure spending, though the democrats do not seem to be on board. Chuckles Schumer came out in opposition before the details were even released.

Pffft, those didn’t amount to shit, those who didn’t need them got the bulk of them and that’s why Schumer wasn’t on board

The reference to Schumer was his opposition to the $1.5T infrastructure spending Trump called for and Schumer came out against before the details of the infrastructure proposals were ever released.

It was probably crap, like most of the things Trump proposes.

The responses here are telling. With our progressive tax system the middle class pays very little in personal income tax thus they aren't going to get large tax cuts. But they get tax cuts and it's considered "not sh*t". It's too partisan of a mindset

$1.5T was crap that had to be opposed before people knew the details, yet this non-existent democratic infrastructure spending would have been so much more magical and created all these great paying jobs, huh? That seems logically true....in a parallel universe far to the left of the one we live in.

What part of the following is probably crap to you?

Transportation: roads, bridges, public transit, rail, airports, and maritime and inland waterway ports.

Broadband (and other high-speed data and communication conduits).

Water and Waste: drinking water, wastewater, stormwater, land revitalization and Brownfields.

Power and Electric: governmental generation, transmission and distribution facilities

Came straight from the proposal in the rural infrastructure part of it, which you can find here: https://www.scribd.com/document/371350091/Read-President-Trump-s-infrastructure-plan#from_embed

The way he proposed to pay for it.

Oh this site is full of GOP-DNC hacks. I do find it amusing when I go through my quotes and end up being called a trumpster in one reply and some equally inane insult the left response all in the same sitting. I didn't even support the tax cuts as enacted but acknowledge they do help the middle class more than some pretend. To me allowing businesses to fully deduct improvements in the year they are paid for for the next 5 years is an intriguing idea. It could, for instance, allow them to add in a ton of solar without having to depreciate it over decades. That it came from Trump/GOP doesn't make it automatically a bad idea.

your assholes voted against their own written and sponsored bills when Obama read them and said he would sign them

The way he proposed to pay for it.

Which Chucky & Company didn't even know when they came out in opposition. What did you find objectionable? That a plumber in Georgia wouldn't have to pay as much for a highway in California to be built? That states would have to chip in more instead of having Uncle Sam pay 80% of the cost? That a project could start in 2 years instead of 10?
