I don't think a 20-80 rate is doable. But I don't think it has to be 80-20 either. Maybe negotiations are in order?

You make a couple of good points - but with Schumer ( and the Dems) they absolutely refuse to engage
in any attempts at negotiations -preferring da resistance.

Repubs did the same thing to Obama. we have lost the ability to compromise, which means we can't govern but by executive orders and party line votes.

and we are worried about da Russians???

So? It’s how Washington use to work, one side presents their version, the other side presents theirs and they use to work towards a compromise. It’s rare for both sides to agree on everything.

Paul Krugman was all about infrastructure spending during the campaign because he was sure Hillary was going to win. His tone changed real fast when she lost.

20-80 just depends on the project and its location. Fairfax County Virginia for instance built a parkway out of its own pocket maybe 20-25 years ago because they were sick of herding state and federal cats to get the thing built. My city is building a fiber network with a lot of the money having been the result of the tobacco company settlements back whenever those happened. Sometimes forcing people to prioritize may not be the worst thing in the world. My city went a little overboard when "shovel ready" projects money was being handed out. For instance, two bridge projects got serious upgrades in plans when quick and easy federal funding came out. One bridge picked up an extra lane for pedestrian and bike traffic, and another project that was supposed to be a single 4 lane bridge to replace a 2 lane bridge suddenly became two three lane bridges.

i'm all for prioritization. But most locals can't do that..one can bring in business.
I'm in Orlando. I pay 0 state taxes. the roads are largely toll roads. I'm fine with it. let the tourists pay for it.
Other cities have HOV lanes, paid by tolls
