Trickle down voodoo-economics at work....

B.S. that an increased minimum wage will bring more automation? Ok.

So once again absolutely nothing about economic growth. You believe the economy is a zero-sum game.

How about you learn that economic growth, and standard of living, can increase while inequality does as well. Your obsession with inequality is like Trump's with trade imbalances. You can't see the forest for the trees. You don't understand the big picture.

You understand nothing but how to use meaningless cliches. You again bring nothing.

your comments on the economy all revolve around higher taxes and government programs. That's not what made the U.S. the world's economic powerhouse. You make no reference to our ingenuity and entrepreneurship which drives our private sector. So don't tell me I bring nothing when all can discuss is minimum wage, higher taxes and maybe infrastructure.

It says nearly 1/3rd of the U.S. stock market is owned by foreign investors. Should we stop foreigners from investing?

One third equals 80 percent?

More importantly than that, what does it say about your party when, on the heels of the Great Republican Recsssion, their most important priority, the one thing they were willing to fight for, was a tax bill that helped Americans who did not really need the help, and helped foreigners more than Americans?

Oh, and on top of that, caused a trillion dollar deficit within three years of being passed.

There is no amount of word salad, no strenuous attempts at word smithing, no nuance or convoluted explanations that can ever put lipstick on this Pig of a Republican tax bill.

I quoted from your article. It's claiming foreigners get a big chunk of the benefits from stock gains. So should we stop foreigners from investing to stop this? Van Hellen complains foreignors own a big chunck of corporate America and as such stand to benefit from our economic growth. Ok, should we not allow foreign corps in our country? And it references debt and the reality is China buys up our t-bills like they are crack. I don't think Van Hellen has a problem with debt, he just doesn't like that it's coming from tax cuts and not programs he wants.

It's just not true. Tax cuts have ALWAYS corresponded with increased revenue. Look up the numbers, it is utterly irrefutable.

If you continue to spend more than you take in, deficits result. But that's a separate issue.

For your convenience.

We've always gotten increased revenue, except after tax cuts. Tax cuts interrupt the usual growth pattern and set us back. Look at the numbers. It is utterly irrefutable.

I'm proud Scotts-Irish and descendant of a horse thief (aka American Royalty).

One side of the family is Welsh and German (filtering through England/Scotland). Not sure about the other side. I know my grandfather was a WWI vet, but I suspect at least some of that side was French-Canadian. I need to take one of those DNA tests someday.

Start with increasing minimum wage. Then increase the taxes on the wealthy and money managers . Use part of that on the debt and increase infrastructure spending. Higher growth and job creation result. Money to the poor and middle class will increase demand. that is what creates hiring and expansion.

Indeed. Consumer spending is what drives economic growth. Get more income to the bottom 50% and they'll spend it. Get it to the top 1%, and they'll ¿invest it? In what, if there's no demand?

Increasing minimum wage = more automation and more unemployment

So the fact that the top 20% of Americans pay 87% of personal income taxes isn't enough. We need it go even higher? And that's going to create job growth?

So basically your vision of growth is just more income redistribution - nothing to do with expansion of the private sector

Automation is, eventually, going to require a guaranteed wage. Basically, Social Security for everyone. The top 20% pay 87% of personal income taxes because that's where most of the disposable income is. "Expansion of the private sector", again, is dependent on increasing demand, which giving more money to those who already have more than they know what to do with does nothing about.

Spending cuts would negatively impact the economy.
Not necessarily. If the economy is strong then reduced spending and paying down public debt won’t necessarily hurt the economy just as when the economy is in decline deficit spending helps the economy grow.

Don’t. Chase family documentation. Those DNA tests are not the most accurate. The whitest guy I know took one and it came back that he was 75% Native American.
