Biblical prophecy claims the Rapture is coming April 23, numerologist says

Some good reading especially for christians

The claim of Paul and the New Testament authors is that Jesus fulfilled many prophecies connected to the Hebrew Scriptures (so-called Old Testament) and a true believer will easily be able to see them. The gospel according to Matthew, in particular, attempts to cross-reference the miraculous birth, deeds and proclamations attributed to Jesus with relevant passages found in Tanach. What are the differences in Christianity vs Judaism?

Matthew 2:14
This passage is found in the beginning of the gospel of Matthew where we find Joseph, the husband of Mary, fleeing from Herod with his wife and infant son. The writer wants us to identify this event with a verse that seems to refer to a person called “son” – that is, to prove Jesus was called then “son of God.” Matthew also attempts to demonstrate that the passage identifies one detail of the life of Jesus – namely his exile to Egypt and eventual ascendancy from there.

Here is the passage in Tanach Matthew was trying to “latch on to” for his “proof:”

Among the major problems with Matthew’s attribution of this verse to Jesus is that in context the entire chapter in Hoshea is clearly speaking about the Jewish people as “My son.” This is a very common metaphor in Tanach, where the collective body of the Jewish people is called “God’s son,” or “first born.”

That's true.. Israel is also referred to as the suffering servant of God and a harlot repeatedly......

I still do not see the word RAPTURE anywhere.....nor the doctrine that when the Lord Comes Back He will ever sit foot on the earth again. What the scriptures do declare is documented very clear with no ambiguity at all. There will be no earth remaining, it will be consumed in FIRE.

The Rapture as described by these con artists taking advantage of the uninformed and uneducated has the Lord coming back to many times. According to charlatans such as Hal Lindsey..etc., they have the Lord coming back the 1st time to take the righteous away and bring the rest of the world into some 7 year tribulation period, then they have the Lord coming again to reign for a literal 1000 years on earth.

But....the Bible actually tells us, "......He comes to execute judgment upon all....." -- Jude 14:15.

As far as "predicting" the exact date based upon a reading of the stars......that would count as some type of Paganism. Not even Jesus knows the date when God will decide to end it all and bring the final judgment (Matthew 24:36).

The Apostle tells us, "But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in which the heavens and the earth pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, THE EARTH AND ALL ITS WORKS THAT ARE THEREIN WILL BE BURNED UP............." 2 Peter 3:10......

For the Lord to come back and literally RULE on earth (instead of spiritually from heaven on the right hand of God).......He would have to contradict a curse that Father God placed the Christ's physical lineage. (Jer. 22:24-30) Jesus' lineage to David went directly through this Cursed King Coniah. God does not lie. The only way that Jesus could reign on David's Throne would be in a spiritual manner. He has been sitting on the Throne of David for over 2000 years now, ruling His Church/Kingdom on earth, its called the Christian Nation.....THE KINGDOM OF GOD.

yessir. I am no scholar to expound the timeline of events which are currently unfolding and there are differences among believers. i no longer debate the different beliefs.I do know that we are the generation of the fig tree and this fail of man is right on schedule. it is good. esp. 34- http://biblehub.com/kjv/luke/21.htm

Very true. The same with all religious texts.

I think for children its Noah and the parting of the Red Sea, but adults should go much deeper and study the history, archaeology, linguistics and geology.. The recurring theme is redemption and forgiveness..

they do mention it.....yes....as did he....

The apostles tried to fit the Jesus narrative into old Jewish accounts.. Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey.. Jews NEVER rode horses. The only horses in Palestine belonged to Roman officers... and as for "Solomon's Stables" .. that works if the stables were for goats.

Which is the most important message.

why do you keep piling on irrelevancies?......the Bible isn't about goats......

??????????????Unreal
Jesus and the Apostles WERE Jews... and, the Lord (lineage, birth, life, death, resurrection and return) was prophesied all through the OT.

Who’s genealogy is given by Luke?
Doesn’t it make sense to say that the Gospel of Luke gives Mary’s genealogy, since it would be nonsense to go through Joseph’s line if he is not the biological father of Jesus?

It should be noted that the Gospel of Matthew sets the precedent for presenting a genealogy of Jesus that goes through Joseph. Incidentally, this genealogy goes through a line (Jehoiakim) that is disqualified for kingship. Therefore, it is not surprising that Luke’s genealogical list also gives a genealogy (much different from that given by Matthew), which is supposedly that of Joseph.

The Gospel of Luke provides a variant tradition concerning Jesus’ ancestry. In the literal Greek of its genealogical listing “Joseph of the Heli” (Luke 3:23) is just another way of saying “Joseph son of Heli.”

Some Christian commentators have claimed that Luke gives Mary’s genealogy. Accordingly, it is proposed that Heli is the father-in-law of Joseph, that is, Heli is the name of Mary’s father. There is no genealogical record, in either the Jewish Bible or the New Testament, which refers to a man as the son of his father-in-law. There is no verse in the New Testament that says Mary is the daughter of Heli.

To presume that Mary was of Davidic descent presents the problem that Mary could not pass on what she did not possess: (1) Maternal connection does not enter into consideration for succession to the throne of David which is passed on only through a continuous male line: “There shall not be cut off from David a man to sit upon the throne of the house of Israel” (Jeremiah 33:17); (2) Biblically, the right of lineal privilege, that is, kingship and priesthood, are exclusively passed on through the male line. The incident regarding the inheritance of the daughters of Zelophehad (Numbers, chapters 27 and 36) does not apply here since it concerns the transference of physical property and not privileges of lineage.

Considering Luke’s genealogical list, neither Joseph nor Mary could claim an inheritance to the throne of David through Heli. Heli and his progeny would be disqualified in regard to the Davidic kingship if he were a descendant of Nathan. Of all the son’s of David, God chose Solomon to sit on the throne of Israel (1 Chronicles 29:1, 1 Kings 2:24).

Whether through Joseph or Mary, Jesus is disqualified from the messianic office.

The LORD says to my Lord:
"Sit at my right hand,
until I make your enemies your footstool."
Psalm 110:1

David knew that the Messiah would come through his line. The Jews knew it.

Joseph was descended from the line of David (tribe of Judah).
Mary was descended from the line of David (tribe of Judah).

When Joseph, who was descended from David, married Mary, this constituted his legal adoption of the son she would bear. The language of Matthew’s genealogy reflects this legal understanding: "Joseph, the husband of Mary . . . the mother of Jesus."

So Jesus was the son of Joseph in the full legal sense, because he was adopted when Joseph married Mary, and thus Jesus is also considered to be a legal descendant of David. When Mary married Joseph her household became part of the House of David.

The Jews kept fastidious genealogical records and they were a matter of public record. Remember that Joseph and Mary went to Bethlehem to be taxed because that was the city of David.

The grandfathers are easy. There are 2 genealogies, one maternal, one paternal. Hence, Heli (ELI) from Mary and Jacob from Joseph.

Jesus had the right to the throne by way of the father (Joseph), even by adoption.
Jesus had the blood of David in his veins because of His mother (Mary).
So either way, He is a descendant of David.
He is King legally through Joseph. He is King naturally through Mary. The credentials are clear, they are detailed and they are irrefutable.
