David knew that the Messiah would come through his line. The Jews knew it.


Joseph was descended from the line of David (tribe of Judah).
Mary was descended from the line of David (tribe of Judah).

When Joseph, who was descended from David, married Mary, this constituted his legal adoption of the son she would bear. The language of Matthew’s genealogy reflects this legal understanding: "Joseph, the husband of Mary . . . the mother of Jesus."

So Jesus was the son of Joseph in the full legal sense, because he was adopted when Joseph married Mary, and thus Jesus is also considered to be a legal descendant of David. When Mary married Joseph her household became part of the House of David.

The Jews kept fastidious genealogical records and they were a matter of public record. Remember that Joseph and Mary went to Bethlehem to be taxed because that was the city of David.

The grandfathers are easy. There are 2 genealogies, one maternal, one paternal. Hence, Heli (ELI) from Mary and Jacob from Joseph.

Jesus had the right to the throne by way of the father (Joseph), even by adoption.
Jesus had the blood of David in his veins because of His mother (Mary).
So either way, He is a descendant of David.
He is King legally through Joseph. He is King naturally through Mary. The credentials are clear, they are detailed and they are irrefutable.

He's pretty much right. If you look at the Western Hemisphere, most countries have much stricter gun laws than we do, yet we've got one of the lowest homicide rates. Look at Brazil, for example, very strict gun laws, about 2/3 our population and typically twice as many gun homicides in a year. Clearly, guns aren't the real problem, and gun control is not a solution.

If you exclude suicides, it's closer to the 14K. And no amount of gun control is going to reduce that. In fact, increased gun control might even make it worse. As for suicides, again, there's Japan.

If you exclude those deemed accidental, it's around 8500. Since most of the guns used in those 8500 or so homicides are ones the person using it shouldn't have legally owned/possessed, you are correct, the laws being proposed won't stop a thing.

Why do gun nuts always wish to exclude suicides? Convenience. They are a gun death, no matter how you wish to spin it. Yeah, and easy access to guns makes suicides much more efficient, no “might” about it.

Japan and their cultural suicides is irrelevant and diversionary.

Unless you can prove the person wouldn't have done it if a gun had been unavailable, you can't count them. How about you ask all those that were successful in their desire to die and get back to me with their answers.
