School Shootings

You mean those games don't have age warning labels on them already? Not to mention, absolutely anything can trigger someone to be violent while having no affect on others. How the hell are we meant to control triggers? We find ways of helping them while controlling what we can...access to firearms. Note I said control, not ban, before you get your knickers in a wad.

Age warning labels have exactly the same effect on a determined kid as "gun-free zone" signs and "strict gun control laws" have on them.

Unless you have a magic spell that will make all the guns disappear, "control" isn't going to work, is it?

if you think teachers are capable of this, why do you trust them now with your kids?

I wouldn't trust public school teachers with kids, personally. Many of them don't trust public schools with their own spawn, if the statistics are correct.

WHY do we not need guns?

Because they make you , your family and society less safe. You gun lovers buy into sophistry.. Guns seem like they will make you safer. But you have to imagine some kind of scenario that almost never happens. What does happen is mass shootings and gun deaths.

Yeah, and you are wrong. School shootings did occur in your/our youth.

The other shootings betray your claim that the issue is generational. The problem is not limited to schools or young shooters. That narrative helps the far right conservative wackos that want to focus on video games, God in school or some other useless crap.

I am not sure what the answers are either but I know they are not going to be found in the simple minded and extremely tired "kids today" rhetoric of the right.

Slight disagree. I'm 53. We didn't have shootings this frequently at schools, or anywhere. I understand we'd have to control for a lot, but I think the violent media culture
figures into this. The extreme realism of the mass killing is a far cry from the daffy duck cartoons I saw. Now I hear you though, in that there is no denying the fact that if a kid
can't get a gun, that kid will not kill anyone with a gun. But there are some multiple elements going on with this. Economic stress at home, whatever...

PS I am totally for much stronger gun control, ban assault weapons, massive education and vetting and training of anyone, registration, testing, heck I think we should require
special insurance. I think if it was doable all ammo should be biomarked to the owner. There is little I would not be comfortable with...

that said, this is a polemic time, financial stress, a media fueling hatred, a clash of cultures due to the WWWeb allowing very different people to give others a piece of
their " get off my god damned lawn and fuck you mind" without any real world direct and personal consequence which would otherwise check and soften speech...

The distance between people who are standing right next to one another is now enormous. Don't be surprised if your grandchildren are marrying Marilyn Monroe robots
and Amazon delivers food pellets by air drop. lol

My response was to EE who suggested there be an age limit on who can buy games. There already is.

I have absolutely no idea how to figure out this continued mass shooting tragedy but something has to be done and to hear ya'all say "you're not taking our guns" as the only contribution you have doesn't help.

What are you having a problem with?

I am saying your attempt to blame it on "videuh games" is bs! That does not stand up to any scrutiny.

I do think our obsession with fame, which can be tied to media saturation, might be a part of it. Trump is a product of that same problem.

So you think these kid's go on a killing spree for their moment of fame. If you really believe that then you are ef-ed in the head. I never said video games were the sole problem but many mental health officials believe they do play a part in the overall picture. But if you want to ignore the data have a nut.
