Harley Davidson shutting down US factory, moving jobs to Bangkok ................

Yes. Just because they made the decision in 2015 it doesn't have to do with Obama, does it?

It has nothing to do with him and no one said it did. The point is unless you know the future legislation passed in 2017 has nothing to do with a decision made in 2015.

What the fuck are you rambling about?

It has everything to do with cost.

Pay attention to what the thread is about, then educate yourself on the topic... then perhaps you will have something other than your leftwingnut bullshit to spew all over the thread.

Pay attention to what I wrote, not what's in your fevered imagination. "Of course I think costs play a role but that wasn't my point. Did trump lie about punishing companies that move overseas?"

trump let you suckers believe he was looking out for you and that could not be more of a lie.

So a decision was made in 2015 to close a plant and/or move it elsewhere -- like overseas. Then Drumpf gets selected by trumpeting, among other things, how he's going to promote a tax reform scheme to keep businesses here and punish those that ship out to other countries anyways. So he does 1) tax reform, but so far is silent on 2) punishing HD.

How is this connected to Obama in any way?

What I said. :good4u:

What does Obama have to do with HD, I don't recall him saying he'd punish companies for moving overseas.

You don't?

In his acceptance of the DEMOCRAT presidential nomination last Thursday, Senator Barack Obama promised to deny tax breaks to companies that send American jobs overseas. Obama said that as president, he "will stop giving tax breaks to companies that ship jobs overseas, and I will start giving them to companies that create good jobs right here in America."

Superfreak brought up Obama as if it did.

Exactly, imported cars and motorbikes are extremely expensive in places like Thailand, Singapore and Vietnam. That's why many companies set up factories locally to avoid swingeing taxes.

...not to mention 60% tariffs. Amazing how the snowflakes erupt over Trumps claims about tariffs on importers and are just fine when other countries screw us.

It's not blaming Obama. It's using him as a reference that he was President when the decision was made. Stating that isn't saying Obama had anything to do with their decision. It's a point of reference for time.

The OP is lying by saying this decision was made because of the tax cuts. That's what this whole discussion is about.

Another Obama lie; so many lies. Why didn't the snowflakes whine about them like they are now?

I read the thread and the links, I know what it's about. I was questioning what trump would do because of his previous comments about punishment.

He didn't say a thing.

Oh, but he did.

Obama: Offshoring Fears Are Outdated, Unwarranted

The perception that Indian operations cost U.S. jobs is an old stereotype that ignores today's reality that two-way trade between the U.S. and India is helping create jobs and raise the standard of living in both countries, U.S. President Barack Obama told a gathering of business executives in Mumbai on Saturday. President Obama's remarks come after some moves in the U.S. that had Indian outsourcers worried that the U.S. may get protectionist in the wake of job losses in the country. Ohio, for example, banned earlier this year the expenditure of public funds for offshore purposes.

Obama's speech is a recognition that jobs cannot be created by protectionism.

^ You may believe that, I don't. None of us here are so clueless that we don't know when Obama was president.

In spite of, not because of.

"Despite President Donald Trump’s claim that massive tax cuts will boost U.S. employment numbers, motorcycle manufacturer Harley Davidson instead announced a plant closing, followed by a massive stock buy-back and is now shifting some jobs to Thailand. "

According to President Barack Obama, Indian companies such as those in Bangalore have been a significant beneficiary of U.S. tax laws and the President aims to change that. The U.S. has created "a tax code that says you should pay lower taxes if you create a job in Bangalore, India, than if you create one in Buffalo, N.Y.," Obama said. Current U.S. tax policy gives companies that create jobs overseas the capability to take deductions on expenses "when they do not pay any American taxes on their profits," he added.

However, most analysts, industry practitioners and tax advisors suggest that federal tax policy changes proposed by Obama may not curb the outsourcing trend or achieve his goal of persuading companies to reduce their expansions to offshore locations.

Peter Bendor-Samuel, CEO of Everest Group, a Dallas based outsourcing consultancy, suggested that the most significant motivation to transfer work abroad is the large difference among salaries in the U.S. and many other countries. Jobs in locations such as India or China may cost only one-sixth that amount when compared to the United States, Bendor-Samuel said.

I don't know how many more times I can say it has nothing to do with Obama.

I get it, y'all don't like tax cuts. Fair enough. They are anathema to most liberals so when Bourbon posts a dishonest honest article from rawstory blaming this move planned in 2015 on tax cuts you jump on it in support because it fits your narrative.
