Time for more "prayers and condolences"

Federal law does not require private sellers to perform background checks on buyers, record the sale, or ask for identification. Approximately 30 states do not require background checks for private sales of firearms.

How are you proposing to regulate sales between individuals? "Private" implies the government and authorities are unaware of the transaction. If someone knowingly sells a firearm to a felon, for example, it is currently illegal. Yet people do it anyway.

It's not unreasonable to require all sales to be conducted through FFL/NICS, and the online sites I have used enforce a policy of allowing purchases BUT requiring shipment to a verified FFL who will run NICS on the seller AND buyer before allowing the buyer to take possession.

Gun-grabbers are really reaching here. What percentage of guns used illegally were bought by criminals online?

[h=1]There has been, on average, 1 school shooting every week this year.(list & map of shootings) CNN:[/h](list and map of shootings in 2018 and locations at link below)

https://www.cnn.com/2018/03/02/us/school-shootings-2018-list-trnd/index.html

We're 21 weeks into 2018, and there have already been 23 school shootings where someone was hurt or killed. That averages out to more than 1 shooting a week.

The parameters CNN followed in this count are:

•A shooting that involved at least one person being shot (not including the shooter)
•A shooting that occurred on school grounds
•We included grades K through college/university level
•We included gang violence, fights and domestic violence
•We included accidental discharge of a firearm as long as the first two parameters are met

Becoming as American as apple pie

Said before, there are three elements in any shooting; the shooter, the weapon, and the target

Highly improbable that we will ever be able to do anything about identifying the shooter before it happens, nor do we have any idea what the next target will be, but we do have some control over the weapon utilized, it is all about access, and in the United States we have too easy access to too many guns

And you better save some of those "prayers and condolences" because it sure as hell is going to happen again

let's guess, a confused white kid who came from a good christian home

Nearly anyone who wants a weapon can get one, check out Craiglst for weapons, hell, even an individual on a terror watch list can obtain one legally

My solution I've offered umpteen times, and I'll even give you a condensed version again, treat all guns as we do vehicles, they have to be registered and in time reregistered, you need a liscense involving training and a test, liability insurance is required on each weapon, etc.. Create common sense hurdles to weapons that create responsibility

Anticipating the next question, would it have stopped this shooting, perhaps if it was enacted five years ago, and it doesn't involve confiscating anything nor eliminate the supposed "right" to own a weapon, no right is absolute

Good plan.. and rationale.. The macho men who think a gun is a substitute for virility will never agree.

That would not have stopped this shooting.

So say we ban guns. Then what? What is it that's making kids do this? That problem still doesn't go away. (I'm waiting for String to re-appear and say that's a far right comment) Is it the feminization of boys? Are we too heavily medicating them?

String said there were more school shootings in the '90's than today. If that's the case maybe what we are doing is working to reduce them. But somehow I don't think that will fly.

Good plan.. and rationale..

Think so?

Sure they do, and will, but it isn't the street thug who is committing all these school shootings nor mass shootings, and with such as liability insurance and reregisteration you won't find as many stolen weapons out there

Hilariously naïve. Insurance and registration haven't stopped auto theft. What makes you think it would stop gun theft?

Kids illegally obtain drugs, tobacco products, alcohol, and stolen goods from "street thugs" every day. That may include guns. Your scheme can't prevent theft and criminal resale, can it?

And you enforce it the same way we enforce motor vehicle laws

Really? What's the probable cause for police checking to see if you have a gun, and if it's yours, and if it's registered, and if it's licensed and insured, and you are up-to-date on training?

That's a Fourth Amendment nightmare.

These school shooters are getting guns from their parents.. so make it tough on the parents.

My family has guns, but it doesn't define their masculinity.

It doesn't define the masculinity 99.999% of gun owners. That whole "guns are a penis substitute/extender etc is just a bunch of nonsense anti gun mush brains made up to insult gun owners. It means nothing to anyone but the most moronic liberals.
