Why do Trump voters want to live here?

You perceive what we believe through poorly-tinted glasses. Might want to go see an optician and get those fixed.

Deflection to keep from answering my questions. I left one item off my list your post illustrates: you look down upon those who voted differently than you and think they are uneducated and bigoted. A way to look down upon others.

It is amusing you reject my list but apparently accept the original post concerning conservatives. Our partisanship often distorts our reality.

Excuse me, but I'm not the one who posted a long laundry list of the sins of the other side. You did that. Apparently *you* are the one looking down on those who voted differently than you. *You* think that all (D) voters believe all the negative attributes that you assigned to us. Sweeping generalizations of this type belong to those who are incapable of seeing beyond their own noses; they belong to those who are fearful, who find critical thinking and nuance difficult. They belong mostly to those on the right. Imagine that.

It also makes you wonder why liberals stay:

They want higher taxes
They want more government regulations
They think America is run by aristocrats and plutocrats
They hate wealthy, successful people
They don't like religious Americans
They want more social welfare programs and advocate for more socialism
They don't like capitalism and corporations
They want to restrict hate speech
They don't like the military
They think don't like American history unless it is being critical
They are racist against white people and can't wait for the older ones to die off
They like democracy if we all vote Democratic but think people are idiots if they do not
They think those not successful must be victims of oppression
Want to restrict how much people can make though taxation or salary limits

Well played sir. Just as dumb as the OP which is the point you were making. And funny to see the response of those who celebrated the OP and want anyone with right leaning beliefs to leave the country and love to call other bigots and racists get upset over this. If one can't see the problem with the two posts they are the problem.

BS. Listen forum posters, call-in shows, etc. and you will see many of these opinions expressed. Which one is a crock, for example?

Lets just go with what's right. 2,6, and the capitalism part of 7.

1. We want the rich to pay an equal percentage
3. Money controls Washington, and everyone should know that. You can't even get on the playing field, and do a damn without the mullah.
4. We hate douchebags that sit on wealth as a status of power, and that care little for the people around them.
5. Tons of religious liberals, most don't fit on a political forum like this though. I barely manage myself as a Catholic liberal, by just letting the smart ass in me handle the garbage around here.
6. Mostly we want back what was taken to fund other stupid shit, and for them to keep their hands off of what we got from or ancestors paying into it. Other stuff will have to figure out, when the issues arise.
7. Who said we hate corporations?
8. Certain language isn't right in public. You can be fined for swearing around youth. In private places that allow free speech all the way, have at it. It's nice to see the haters make fools of themselves.
9. We are fine with the military. You are full of shit. We don't demand kneelers stop, because of what you think it means. If you think that means we don't like military, then you are a worthless biased dolt.
10. That one is just asinine, it's the right that was changing textbooks. We don't wish to glorify the wicked in statues, it belongs only in text.
11. From what I know most liberals are white here, and a large amount elsewhere.
The rest is too ignorant to touch with a ten foot pole.

Again, your partisanship causes big jumps in logic. Nowhere did I say these were "sins" or something to look down up. They were simply statements reflecting why many liberals don't like the U. S. as a comparison to the original post. You are the one referring to them as "negative" attributes.

You are correct about them being "sweeping generalizations," but that was to make them more comparable to the original post--there is obviously a lot of hyperbole in both posts. You are the only one suggesting others are beneath you when you said "And you wonder why we see you Reichwingers as un- and under-educated, bigoted, and close-minded." I made no such generalizations about liberals.

Be honest. In the original post from Bourbon you didn't see any "Sweeping generalizations of this type belong to those who are incapable of seeing beyond their own noses?"

I'm sure you know those on the far left and far right both fit the same authoritarian model.

Because a person does not agree with you on everything does not mean they are on the right--that makes ideology a simplistic dichotomy.

Look at the posts from Fentoine Lum as representative of most of my list.

1. Equal percentage of what?
2. We both agree on this one.
3.. Money is for campaigns to influence votes--because it is votes that determine winners. Money is necessary, but not sufficient. There are many examples of candidates spending much more money and losing the election because they did not have the votes.
4. That is what I said. "They hate wealthy, successful people." Liberals think a large number of them fit your description than conservatives.
5. So we agree again? Those very religious (evangelicals, fundamentalists) are hated on this forum with numerous derogatory descriptions.
6. Again, we agree. Your description fits mine. I didn't say anything about Social Security (if your sentence refers to SS) but nobody took the SS ("for them to keep their hands off of what we got from or ancestors paying into it").
7. I did. Many are very critical of corporations and see them as the evil of capitalism thinking they are exploiting workers and needing more regulation.
8. Many would agree with you on this one but many (see college speech codes) disagree. Swearing is an obscenity and not protected (but seldom enforced).
9. I said nothing about kneelers. Many liberals are anti-military (see Fentoine Lum's posts) as warmongers (his words) etc. Again, I am not arguing against some of these views, just listing what liberals believe.
10. You made my point. The right changed textbooks because they thought the left was too critical of the U. S. in those books. The left usually wants more atrocities and the right wants more God and white guys.
11. Yes, most are white. But they often post about how racist white people. And you can see numerous posts by Guno (and probably Jarod and Bourbon) hoping older "racist" white people will die off.

You find none of the original posts equally ignorant?

Yes. She has been frantically courting various JPPers the last week or so in yet another vain attempt to convince them of her righteousness and the vileness of those she envies and hates.

Sadly, it is the price you pay for being one of the cool people -- being on the receiving end of the petty and inconsequential grievances of losers.

There is a body of peer reviewed research indicating that a surprisingly high percentage of rightwingers engage in scurrilous gossip. salacious slander, outright lying, and fabrication.... at frequencies and levels not seen since the movie "Mean Girls"!

To this horde of righwing losers, I dedicate a classic Guns and Roses album.

how imaginative.

How long did it take you to think this up?

You are still a minority. Don't forget that.

I often wonder how the blacks feel about being replaced by the spix in the heart of the democrat party

You mean Bourbon? You cannot mean the Dem,s. They are the majority.

I could write a book of unpleasant things I like better then Trump. But for this I'll leave it to 10.

1. Prostate Exams.
2. Japanese beetles.
3. That bird that sound like a gym whistle, that perches near my window.
4. Fake vegan dishes, like tofurkey.
5. People that don't wash hands when using the restroom.
6. Sultry Pop divas.
7. Sitting on my balls.
8. Dieting.
9. Stubbing my toe.
10. Country music.

Here's things closer to Trump level dislike.

1. Kidney stones.
2. The new Star Wars movies.
3. Martin Shkreli.
4. A sewage backup.
5. Taking a bite of food, only to realize it had mold on it.

I call BS on the country music hyperbole.

I call BS on the country music hyperbole.

Well I could put up with country music, if a family member played it, without too much problem. If they turned on a Trump rally, and started chanting look her up, I'd end up having to hit my head against the wall.

They play "You Can't Always Get What You Want" (Rolling Stones)...
I agree on country music..no way I can take much of that

I'm not partisan. I agree with many of the descriptions from both lists although they are sweeping generalizations and hyperbole. They also apply to only a certain percentage of each group and not a majority in most cases.

Such is tribalism in politics. We ascribe the best virtues to people on our "side" and worst vices to those on the other "side". This thread is a perfect example

Please cite two studies from this body of research. From the research I've seen you are right but they found left-wingers have the same characteristics. If you are saying this only applies to one side you are being blinded by your partisanship. Who are the "peers" that reviewed this research?

Unfortunately, they see this as "truth" rather than ideological bias. And it affects our objective reality--like a disputed call in a sporting event--we all think the ruling should favor our team. And if our team loses, it was because it was rigged in their favor.

Given a set of policy choices people choose their preference but will then change that preference if they learn their party favors the other preference. My conservative friends would never favor tariffs until Trump proposed them.

Hello Bourbon,

I've never 'groaned' anybody, but this Thread gave me the urge to do it for the first time, for your OP.

This is so petty.

It sinks to the level of 'Love It Or Leave It.'

We don't want half the nation leaving.

We don't want 25% of the nation leaving.

What we need to do is to find a way to coexist.

We need more respect and understanding, more tolerance, more people who understand that freedom includes freedom of others to do things you disagree with, and your freedom to disagree with it.

We need everybody in this country, even those we might find undesirable. We don't have to agree with them but we do need to support their freedom to believe anything they want to. If we think otherwise, it falls upon us to convincingly express why.

Diversity Makes America Great!

Hello Flash,

It also makes you wonder why liberals stay: [my comments]

They want higher taxes [to pay down the debt we are all responsible for, instead of ignoring it]
They want more government regulations [where they are needed to protect people]
They think America is run by aristocrats and plutocrats [because it is true]
They hate wealthy, successful people [false accusation]
They don't like religious Americans [false accusation]
They want more social welfare programs and advocate for more socialism [because it is the right thing to do]
They don't like capitalism and corporations [false accusation - more like they don't like crony capitalism or GREEDY corporations]
They want to restrict hate speech [false accusation]
They don't like the military [false accusation]
They think don't like American history unless it is being critical [false accusation]
They are racist against white people and can't wait for the older ones to die off [false accusation]
They like democracy if we all vote Democratic but think people are idiots if they do not [if they all voted, Republicans would be out of power]
They think those not successful must be victims of oppression [false accusation, but it should be noted that oppression does exist]
Want to restrict how much people can make though taxation or salary limits[Taxation does not limit possible earnings. There is merit to limitations on executive pay in relation to a multiple of average worker pay -if the executive wants to earn more, he should guide his company to earn more and share it with those workers who make that possible]
