Trump’s Immigration Policies Are Actually Pretty Popular

You brought it up. Most parents would do anything to keep their children alive even if it involves sending them away.

Things aren’t exactly going swimmingly for the Europeans on immigration lol.

Many parents would do what you say. Many not so good parents, would use their kids to get into this country. And many really not so good, people, would use kids to get into this country.

To them, the kids are an expendable commodity. I don’t feel particularly good about things knowing my government is basically encouraging all of that because they refuse to take the political risks in doing something meaningful about it.

As a matter of fact, I think it makes us pretty immoral.

Many Europeans "forced" their children out of their home countries back in the '30s and '40s because it was an act of mercy to keep them alive. Yet repubs criticize Central American families for wanting their kids to survive violence.
It's not to the betterment of the USA to take in all of central Americas problems. America first.
We don't need massive unskilled labor immigration, and we certainly don't need need it done illegally

This immigration issue will help Trump and the GOP in the mid terms.

Trump enacted the Muslim immigration ban to protect Americans. It was Democrats who fought that ban and showed they don't care about the safety of Americans.

If these people weren't given jobs by the business owners who depend on their cheap labor, the flow would dry up.

I couldn’t care less who pays for it lol.

So long as it pays for itself. Let’s build it so we can see who is right.

No wall is possible. The wall would go on private land . it would face lawsuits from owners who do not want a wall on their property. Some wall extensions have been in the court system for a decade. Of course a ruthless use of eminent domain would please the rightys. Just take their land. Throw a few billion tax dollars their way. 35 billion for starters on a wall. Law suits, and court time, priceless. But isn't Mexico supposed to pay for it?

You must not like Kentucky. I know it's a joke, but did you forget about the bridges? Or do you actually mean flood walls?

I’m being facetious of course but go to east Dayton, Middletown, Hamilton, West Cincinnati, Portsmouth,Ironton and see for yourself the social problems we have in our State due to the migration of poor a Appalachians into our State. They represent a far greater problem to our State than illegals do. At least the Mexicans want to work hard, provide a better life and education for their kids and have demonstrably stronger family values than Appalachian migrants do.

So when I hear these rednecks popping off about Mexican immigrants I have no doubt about the source of their bigotry and ergo have no problem throwing some uncomfortable facts their way.

Yes things are so rosy in Germany that Merkel's interior minister wants to get her kicked out!!

i'd love to see her go-but we've heard this before

https://www.express.co.uk/news/world/978906/Angela-Merkel-Germany-news-immigration-row-Nigel-Farage
Mr Farage said: “Mrs Merkel, of course, compounded all of this by saying ‘we can cope. As many as want to come, come.’

“And guess what? More than 1.4 million went to Germany.

“It has totally changed German attitudes and German politics.

“It’s led directly to the rise of the AfD, the Alternative for Deutschland. They, in turn, putting massive pressure on the Bavarian Conservatives, without whom Mrs Merkel cannot govern.

“The battle that’s going on in the European Union is this: should decisions about immigration, about how you deal with illegals, about how you qualify or recognise refugees, should these decisions be taken by the European Union, or should these decisions be taken by nation states?

The wall couldn’t possibly work lol?

Granted, it wouldn’t be 100% effective but that’s not a realistic expectation.

So let’s keep things real. If we really care about immigrants and their kids, we should do everything we can to disincentivize making the journey to our border. If I lived in one of the socialist utopias in Central America I’d probably try to get here too. I don’t blame them.

But we can’t make immigration policy based on my feels.

If there’s a better deterrent than a wall along the southern border I’d be happy to hear about it.
well why shouldn’t we do the same on the Ohio River given Appalachian immigrants are a far larger problem in Ohio than illegal Latinos?

So you'd want a wall, and checks at the bridges? They'd have to use airports to get in then, and I don't know if hillbillies fly much.
No I don’t want a wall Jade. I’m being ironic and pointing out that the class of people bitching about illegals are the least affected by them and are often a bigger social problem than illegal Latinos as Appalachian immigrants are here in Ohio.

I imagine they are part of the reason for the opioid crisis, just like in West Virginia.

No. Not at all. The blame for that falls squarely on the shoulders of physicians and pharmaceutical companies who created the opiate pill mills that have caused the crises. We need to see their asses going to prison instead of addicts but that’s another topic.

I don't even see what they get from the opioids. I've had plenty around, and hate taking them. If I ever took them, it shows what pain I was in at the time. They made me feel numb mentally, and I just got to sit numb while anxiety drove me insane, without being able to vent it, because of being so numb. Granted it takes a lot to get me that way, so I only accept the weaker stuff, just to edge off the pain slightly when needed.

I’ve taken them a few times when prescribed for pain and that was my experience. However some get addicted when over perscribed for pain.
