Kennedy retiring from Supreme Court

Those retards should be impeached and expunged.

In a just world maybe. Elena Kagan?Unqualified lesbian, who got the job just for being that.

Sonia sotomayor? The latino women, who openly admitted to hating white men, and ruling against them?

Yeah they were REAL PEACHES!

Just a quick note for you: the Senate is part of Congress.

Ummm yes I know that. But, they don't need to take back Congress they just need to take back the Senate which nobody thinks will happen.

However, I do fully expect those cunts Murkowski and Collins to play the McCain role so hopefully they both will be diagnosed with Stage 4 Ovarian cancer very soon and die by August

POLITICAL STRATEGY QUESTION:
Minority Leader Schumer (D-NY) and Governor Cuomo (D-NY) are pressing Majority Leader McConnell (R-KY) to delay filling the Kennedy SCOTUS vacancy until after the mid-term elections.
Their thinking seems to be:
If it's a Democrat landslide, it should inform Trump's nominee selection. If not that, why are these Dem. leaders taking this delay tactic?

Might it not be more effective for the Democrat's agenda to let Trump install some associate justice that tilts our high court solidly to the Republicans, thus focusing the Democrat voters for this November's mid-term elections?

They have to posture that way - it will make the issue more effective for the fall elections.

There is nothing they can do to stop it. McConnell won't listen to them - it's just grandstanding so they can say the Republicans were unreasonable & hypocritical in the campaigns this fall.

"There is nothing they can do to stop it." T1
On basis of vote count alone, perhaps not.

BUT !!

Doesn't the senate super-majority rule apply? McConnell / Trump needs 60 votes to fill the vacancy?

Trump has been less than diplomatic with some of Trump's fellow Republicans in our senate.
Commenting on Senator John McCain (R-AZ)
"He's not a war hero.
He is a war hero.
He's a war hero because he was captured.
I like people that weren't captured. OK?" Donald Trump: July 2015 seeking the Republican nomination for the 2016 presidential race

"You know how to make America great again? Tell Donald Trump to go to Hell." Senator L. Graham (R) 15/12/08
I haven't counted the votes. And we do not know who Trump will nominate.
But factor in those Trump has trounced, and add in traditional swingers like Susan Collins (R-ME), I wouldn't bet the farm that Trump's replacement of Kennedy will be a shoo in.

You're probably right, but it's gonna be more interesting than you think. The landscape is a no brainer - the GOP should pick up 5-6 seats in a year like this. But I think there is an excellent chance for a status quo (which would be a huge missed opportunity for the right), and even a small chance Dems pick up a few seats.

Can't wait.

5-6 in a mid term election? There are maybe 10 seats that legitimately can go either way... and 4 are held by Reps. They would have to hold all of their toss ups and pick up all of the Dems toss ups in order to hit 5-6 pick up. Try educating yourself before speaking.
