I was discussing dinosaurs and birds. The whole "we were discussing" is strawman 123 in this thread about what "we were discussing". Don't want to admit that birds are living dinosaurs then you are free to be wrong, but my facts don't change by feeble diversions.
Critical thinking skills are important.. Kids don't really learn unless they question.

Actually, there was a content to this discussion, yours was the diversion.
Most everyone knows that birds evolved from Dinosaurs but "Dinosaurs" did not exist alongside mankind.. Several posters have repeatedly made the distinction.

Except you don't want them to question whether birds are dinosaurs or whether man lived alongside T-Rex. Your position is that only by rote memorization of what you believe can one learn critical thinking. It isn't further from the truth. Science and scientific knowledge is forever changing but you folks are acting like it never does and is never wrong about anything. A good bit of the stuff discovered/invented is discovered/invented while looking for something else.

You and all the other Jesus Sandals Haters simply have been trying to manufacture something I never said in order to turn me into a black guy you can lynch on the hanging tree outside JPP city gates while pretending that the Natural History Museum said something different than it quite explicitly stated. Birds are descendants of dinosaurs and belong to one branch of that family tree, as just we are descendants of one branch of the primate (ape) family. Birds are living dinosaurs in the same way that we are living primates/great apes. Their ancestors have gone extinct, just as ours have.
The discussion, however, is about private schools teaching kids that the humans lived at the same period in time as the extinct dinosaurs. They are not teaching that those dinosaurs evolved into birds.

I won't argue with that. My nursing class, for instance had about an equal number of oldsters like myself and young students fresh out of h.s.; the rest were in their 20s and 30s. Many of the younger students had to take both remedial math and remedial English. I know at least two of them were home-schooled; the rest went to either public or private schools.

I haven't seen a single person here make that claim. The beauty of science is that it *does* change as new information becomes available. Every new scientific claim to fact is 1) almost always built upon prior information, and 2) rigorously examined and tested by other experts in the field. You seem to like discussing dinosaurs so let's use them for an example. When I was a kid (shortly after the asteroid struck Earth and caused the mass extinction event that led to the demise of the ancient dinosaurs), it was believed that dinosaurs were more like modern reptiles than like warm-blooded birds. They were depicted as slow, stupid, cold-blooded, egg-laying beasts with scales. As our knowledge has progressed we now think of them as more like the ones depicted in the Jurassic Park movies... intelligent, swift, even colorful.
I was taught a lot of stuff as a kid that turned out to be false, including some things that were back then taken as scientific fact (like smoking is good for you). That hasn't caused me to reject science; only to understand that it's usefulness is its ability to "change its mind" as new data become available. BTW, my father was a scientist so we got to see it in action.
