Again, the release of the indictments wasn’t informative in a way that would benefit Trump prior to meeting with Putin. Which raises the question of timing: why not just wait until the Summit was over so as to not complicate a meeting between the leaders of two nuclear powers.

Did the Russian narrative need a boost going into the Summit?

The bolded simply isn't true. It made it much more verifiable & concrete.

That's why many on both the left & right were immediately saying that Trump should cancel the meeting when the news came out. I think it's preposterous that Mueller should have kept that secret with such a high-profile meeting moving forward.

There were no secrets to keep. It the indictments were a revelation—that would be one thing.

Is this more of different authorities agreeing with one another equaling ‘evidence’ again?

This is an important job. We shouldn't want someone who "talks just like us!" We shouldn't care about someone being folksy, or eating pork rinds, or who we'd rather have a beer with.

We also need to get off of the idea of needing some sort of mythical "outsider" who doesn't have a clue what Washington is about or what it means to be a politician. Being a politician is a job - it requires skill & some nuance, and if you want to be good at it, some intelligence & experience.
