2nd Amendment right to carry openly in public affirmed

i'm sure you've explained this before, something about them ignoring the first part, which makes zero sense. am i right? you think that militia membership is a requirement for owning guns?

Well, you are right about the prefatory clause, but hardly makes "zero sense" given that no Supreme Court in the last two hundred years prior to the Robert's Court could ever determine what the clause meant, Scalia just thought they could skip over it, and usually if you can't figure out why the Amendment exists your understanding of it is flawed

And your second part is irrelevant, nobody knows what the Founding Fathers thought was required to own a gun

The difference is that so many RWers are massively ignorant about the Second. Just as they are the First.

We'll just leave it at "massively ignorant".

Exactly, they throw it around as if it applies to every situation relevant to guns, and attempting to explain to them that no right is absolute is a losing battle, that is beyond "massively ignorant"

what state/city do you live in?

I live in a Blue State, in a large urban area for that matter, and with the State's stricter gun laws we experience less gun violence than the vast majority of loose gun States, do you think there might be a correlation there somewhere?

Where is its right to live written in the Constitution?

Well, it is in the Declaration of Independence, and endorsed by probably every religion or morality codes, but ultimately I thought it was given to us by God, but I could be mistaken

Dumberthanayew thinks the "shall not be infringed" is an absolute. I've challenged him to pack his peashooter into the local courthouse to test that claim. No go.

All pussified talk. No knowledge.

The Declaration is not law.

That was merely a response to the always childish and absurd RW "where does it say in the Constitution" bullshit. As if every law, ordinance or regulation has to be specifically identified in the Constitution to be valid. An example is Dumberthanayew claiming vehicles are not necessary in a modern society because they are not mentioned in the Constitution.

RW morons.

He's an admiral, supposedly.

As an esteemed member of the maritime community with years of experience commanding RORo, battleships and an admiral in the coast guard, I think this thread is silly.

this is a very good display of the ignorance that anti gunners eschew about the 2nd Amendment. you revise or ignore history of both court decisions as well as the writing of the founders as it concerns the 2nd Amendment and firearms. your public schools either failed you miserably or were very successful in their statist indoctrination of your brain.

correlation doesn't equal causation.....isn't that something that anti gunners like to throw out there when stats that show loose gun laws reduce violence? are you unwilling to give me the state/city you live in so I can tell you why you never see anyone open carry there?

that is not what I said, fuckstick, and you know it. this is why NOTHING you say can be taken with a grain of salt, because you do nothing but lie.

The NRA nuts teach that liberals want the abolishment of gun rights. So they get them to believe all we liberal hunters, want this despite where we stand on guns. Just keep the friggen one man arsenal stuff out of the hands of the mentally ill. Is that so hard to compromise towards. They just give more slippery slope BS, like they give for all issues they demand a certain way on.

Many leftist loons DO want to abolish the Second Amendment. Stop being disengenous. The second amendment has absolutely NOTHING to so with hunting.

Actually anyone that bothers to read it knows that it ONLY has to do with the Militia.

Not "self defense" not hunting...not target shooting

And at BEST...the Dick Act means that the only militia that exists (and it really doesn't) concerns only males under 45
