The founders never wanted the rabble to have representation, they both feared and reviled the commoners.
Let's recall, ONLY white male landowners of the aristocracy were "granted" the right to vote by the aristocracy, it was never some inalienable right granted by some divine being, and the senate was appointed by the aristocracy - not voted opon by the public. The aristocracy still believes that's how it should be and are always attempting to get back to that. And they've come a long way since the Powell Memorandum in that regard. The vote is a charade in the sense that the vote alone will never be enough as long as the public is willing to go right back after voting to participation and cooperation in their own subjugation.
