What's causing rising debt?

calm down cowboy, Trump's trillion dollar deficits to pay for the wealthy's tax cuts are raising the national debt

Slow down you ignorant cunt; those deficits are the result of Democrat programs and Obamacare. Tax cuts didn't hurt Revenue; Revenue is UP.

I thought the whole Tea Party mass hissy fit in 2010 was all about the national debt, right?

You don't think you whiny ignorant race hustling cunt; you emote. If you could think, you wouldn't bloviate with so much stupidity and ignorance. The only one's having hissy fits are race hustling leftist morons like you. Buy a mirror you whiny cunt.

STFU!

Rune, I love you bro but TD is right...we need to start worrying about the debt. If you take away FedCo spending were over our GDP and we need to get a handle in that.

WRONG!; revenues are UP you moron. It is a SPENDING problem not a revenue problem. Of course, you have to have a brain to comprehend the OBVIOUS.

incorrect, revenues are not up

if they were, why is the deficit increasing every day?.........maybe Trump shoveling cash to his defense contractor pals?

incorrect, revenues are not up

Revenues are higher since the tax cut was passed you boorish buffoon.

if they were, why is the deficit increasing every day?

Because SPENDING continues to rise faster than revenue you boorish buffoon. Which is why I say we have a SPENDING problem created by mandated social spending and Obamacare, not a REVENUE problem.

.........maybe Trump shoveling cash to his defense contractor pals?

Maybe your brain is too small to allow you to comprehend the most obvious?

If we increased taxes on the rich we would have enough revenue to wipe out the deficit and begin paying down the debt.

Trump lied and said he would pay off the national debt as President. He has done nothing of the sort. Instead he is irresponsibly running the debt up during good economic times, because we are not collecting enough taxes. (just as predicted during the debate over the unpopular tax cut.)

I've got a good question for anybody who thinks the tax cuts would pay for themselves (which they haven't.)

Well, if you can't generate enough revenue to pay the debt down during a good economy; how in the world do you ever expect to do it during a recession?

Shooting someone in the head with a cannon is a problem.
Shooting them in the head with a 12 ga. shotgun instead is less of a problem?

What level of U.S. federal debt is not a problem?
"There are two ways to conquer and enslave a nation. One is by the sword. The other is by debt." John Adams
Know it or not, believe it or not, like it or not, admit it or not; federal debt is slavery.
"What's pernicious about deficits for conservatives is this. It makes big government cheap. What we're doing, we're turning to the country, the "conservative" administration turns to the country and says: We're going to give you a dollar's worth of government, we're going to charge you seventy five cents for it. And we're going to let your kids pay the other quarter." George Will Nov 30, 2003

In all fairness, that's not what Rune said. But I do agree with you that our debt is now a problem.

It is not "now" a problem. It has ALWAYS been a problem and idiots like Rune don't comprehend how deficits happen, otherwise why ignore the OBVIOUS. SPENDING is increasing faster than the increase in REVENUE. We do not have a REVENUE problem but rather, a SPENDING problem. The tax cuts did not cause the deficit because REVENUE is increasing since they were passed.

Tax cuts have NEVER caused any amount of REVENUE loss at ANY time in our history. REVENUES have always gone up. SPENDING, unfortunately, increased at a faster pace.

One other FACT; the only party to have reduced the deficit and spent LESS than REVENUE over the last four decades has been the Republican Party.

I hold bonds. Am I part of the problem?

If we increased taxes on the rich we would have enough revenue to wipe out the deficit and begin paying down the debt.

That is an outright lie. If we taxed the rich at 100% it would not be enough to wipe out the deficits. We do not have a REVENUE problem you dunce.

Trump lied and said he would pay off the national debt as President. He has done nothing of the sort. Instead he is irresponsibly running the debt up during good economic times, because we are not collecting enough taxes. (just as predicted during the debate over the unpopular tax cut.)

Link to the claim that you say Trump made? Another lie.

I've got a good question for anybody who thinks the tax cuts would pay for themselves (which they haven't.)

Your question is moronic in that Revenues have gone up since the tax cuts were implemented. Apparently you are incapable of simple mathematics and instead regurgitate the asinine liberal talking points you get fed.

I have a question for you; when have tax increases ever led to reduced deficits?

Why all this sudden concern over deficits and debt? You supported a divisive inexperienced fool for eight years that spent us into almost ten trillion additional debt and defended it all. More than ALL the Presidents before him.

Same question for you; when have tax increases led to lower debt and balanced budgets?

"Trump lied and said he would pay off the national debt as President." #251
I don't recall that. But anyone that believed it is a fool.

Governor Reagan criticized President Carter for deficit spending. Candidate Reagan promised to balance the budget, and pay down the $debt.
"You and I as individuals can, by borrowing, live beyond our means, but for only a limited period of time. Why, then, should we think that collectively, as a nation, we are not bound by that same limitation?" Ronald Reagan's First Inaugural Address, 1981
Reagan talked a great game.

Not only did President Reagan run up more $U.S. $federal $debt than President Carter. President Reagan ran up more U.S. federal debt than all of the previous U.S. presidents before him, COMBINED!
"Trump lied and said he would pay off the national debt as President." #251
It's no secret. Trump is a liar.
