"What's causing rising debt?"
Republican tax cuts.
Republican tax cuts.
calm down cowboy, Trump's trillion dollar deficits to pay for the wealthy's tax cuts are raising the national debt
I thought the whole Tea Party mass hissy fit in 2010 was all about the national debt, right?
wtf?
"What's causing rising debt?"
Republican tax cuts.
WRONG!; revenues are UP you moron. It is a SPENDING problem not a revenue problem. Of course, you have to have a brain to comprehend the OBVIOUS.
Rune, I love you bro but TD is right...we need to start worrying about the debt. If you take away FedCo spending were over our GDP and we need to get a handle in that.
I continue to be amazed that idiots claim we have a revenue problem.
I continue to be amazed that idiots claim we have a revenue problem.
incorrect, revenues are not up
if they were, why is the deficit increasing every day?
.........maybe Trump shoveling cash to his defense contractor pals?

are you a National Socialist?
If we increased taxes on the rich we would have enough revenue to wipe out the deficit and begin paying down the debt.

Know it or not, believe it or not, like it or not, admit it or not; federal debt is slavery."There are two ways to conquer and enslave a nation. One is by the sword. The other is by debt." John Adams
"What's pernicious about deficits for conservatives is this. It makes big government cheap. What we're doing, we're turning to the country, the "conservative" administration turns to the country and says: We're going to give you a dollar's worth of government, we're going to charge you seventy five cents for it. And we're going to let your kids pay the other quarter." George Will Nov 30, 2003
In all fairness, that's not what Rune said. But I do agree with you that our debt is now a problem.
It is not "now" a problem. It has ALWAYS been a problem and idiots like Rune don't comprehend how deficits happen, otherwise why ignore the OBVIOUS. SPENDING is increasing faster than the increase in REVENUE. We do not have a REVENUE problem but rather, a SPENDING problem. The tax cuts did not cause the deficit because REVENUE is increasing since they were passed.
Tax cuts have NEVER caused any amount of REVENUE loss at ANY time in our history. REVENUES have always gone up. SPENDING, unfortunately, increased at a faster pace.
One other FACT; the only party to have reduced the deficit and spent LESS than REVENUE over the last four decades has been the Republican Party.
If we increased taxes on the rich we would have enough revenue to wipe out the deficit and begin paying down the debt.
Trump lied and said he would pay off the national debt as President. He has done nothing of the sort. Instead he is irresponsibly running the debt up during good economic times, because we are not collecting enough taxes. (just as predicted during the debate over the unpopular tax cut.)
I've got a good question for anybody who thinks the tax cuts would pay for themselves (which they haven't.)
Well, if you can't generate enough revenue to pay the debt down during a good economy; how in the world do you ever expect to do it during a recession?
Shooting someone in the head with a cannon is a problem.
Shooting them in the head with a 12 ga. shotgun instead is less of a problem?
What level of U.S. federal debt is not a problem?
Know it or not, believe it or not, like it or not, admit it or not; federal debt is slavery.

I hold bonds. Am I part of the problem?
I don't recall that. But anyone that believed it is a fool."Trump lied and said he would pay off the national debt as President." #251
Reagan talked a great game."You and I as individuals can, by borrowing, live beyond our means, but for only a limited period of time. Why, then, should we think that collectively, as a nation, we are not bound by that same limitation?" Ronald Reagan's First Inaugural Address, 1981
It's no secret. Trump is a liar."Trump lied and said he would pay off the national debt as President." #251
