Reading, Writing, Arithmetic, RUN for YOUR LIVES! 21st century high school experience

The left never lets dead kids go to waste, Topsy, unless they were aborted.

Yep, bring 'em into the world, name em, love them and raise them, send them to school and let 'em get mowed down by other ARMED pissed off kids. Damn now, if you just be sure the pissed off kids shot the 'right' ones to thin the herd, it could be win win.

Florida already does.

I have a question! Not hyperbole, I'm serious. What happens when kids get caught in the crossfire of a shooter and teacher and a kid dies? Taxpayers of the STATE or the local county going to have to cough up the 'payouts'? If we have armed conflict in the CLASSROOM, this is going to happen.

The other thing I want to know is DO TEACHERS HAVE TO PACK? What happens if a kid gets SHOT in a classroom where a teacher says, NO WAY, am I going to do CARRY. Are the parents then going to sue the county or the STATE?

What is your solution to bring an end to these tragic events?

Leaving aside there is already a huge thread on this already we can have the exact same discussion over again. Generations prior to this one had access to guns. What is is about kids today that make them shoot up school’s when prior generations didn’t?

An over-prescribing of Ritalin and other ADHD meds? The glorification of shooters by the media giving these cowards the attention they desire?

No. You cannot force the teachers to be armed. As FL just did, if a policy is in place to allow teachers to conceal carry, then a mandatory gun safety/training class should be taken. (highly recommend that for any gun buyer)

Probably ban my M1A? It's a killin" machine, tried and true.
Maybe my 1100? It's a semi auto 3" magnum firing purgatory.
Possibly my 1911? It's also an actual military issued weapon.

They have no solution, just as those above mentioned weapons
will never be used on a defenseless human being as long as I own
them. But then, I was brought up to know right from wrong. Maybe
that might be the solution? It worked for my generation, we didn't
shoot up schools.

What happens when kids get caught in the crossfire of a shooter and teacher and a kid dies?*

You have watched too many cop shows. First off most classrooms hall door is at the front of the room where the teacher is. So there would be no crossfire. Second the instant a shooter hears a gun shot that's not his, he is going to take cover. So there would not be a protracted gun fight. And he damn sure wouldn't be walking around shooting indiscriminately.

DO TEACHERS*HAVE*TO PACK?
As I understand it teachers must volunteer and be trained. If this law saves one child it's worth it. So you can whine and say what if but at least we are doing something to protect our kids.

Why are you mocking this tragedy?

Why isn't an alleged retired "teacher" appalled and outraged about this tragedy? So far all we've ever seen you do when yet another school shooting happens is attack whoever is posting about it.

But it is vitally important to 'preserve, protect and defend' the NRA so pissed off Americans and their CHILDREN can keep the right to SHOOT people. If daddy has the right to one, I have the right to one too. (Or I can just borrow or steal HIS).

HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. — Two suspects who carried out an armed attack at a school outside of Denver have been identified as an adult male and a juvenile female, the authorities said on Wednesday, as they continued to investigate an assault that reached “deep inside the school.”

Surrounded by officials, Sheriff Tony Spurlock of Douglas County identified the suspects in the shooting at STEM School Highlands Ranch, which killed an 18-year-old senior who was just three days from graduation on Tuesday and injured eight other students. Earlier, he said, officers had mistakenly identified the juvenile as a young man.

The suspects carried two handguns, and at least one of them was restrained by a school security officer by the time law enforcement arrived, the sheriff said. During the attack, he added, there was at least one encounter between a student and a suspect. “We are going to hear about very heroic things that have taken place,” he said.
While details of the shooting remained sparse, the sheriff said the attackers got “deep inside the school,” and one parent said on Tuesday that students had tried to stop the attack.

Brad Bialy said his oldest son, Brendan, a senior, told him that he was in class when gunfire erupted. Mr. Bialy said his son told him that two students entered the classroom and one pulled a gun out of a guitar case.

He said his son and two friends tried to tackle the gunman but one of the boys was shot in the chest. Other students tried to stanch the bleeding by putting pressure on his chest, Mr. Bialy said.

He will have his first court hearing on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. local time, said District Attorney George Brauchler. He added that he would consider trying the juvenile suspect as an adult. Mr. Brauchler, a Republican, is well-known in the state for his support of the death penalty, and led the prosecution of the man convicted of killing 12 people in a movie theater in Aurora, Colo., in 2012....

My generation did not have the access to guns that is available today. Occasionally I saw a rifle or shotgun in the back window of a pickup truck, but other than movies or TV that was it. As kids we all played at each other's houses. The only gun owner we knew of was the next-door neighbor who was a big-game hunter. He kept his locked in a safe in his locked den in the basement. He showed us his trophy heads one time. I never saw a handgun till I was an adult.

Kids can easily get firearms today and use them to solve their problems.... whether the solution is suicide, or homicide.

Arming teachers isn't the answer.
But it sure would chase away a lot of good people from becoming a teacher.
When being a gun slinger,is part of the job description.

The reality is, for better and worse, the internet makes almost everything more accessible today. But even with that guns have always been accessible. (I realize we all grew up in different parts of the country so they were probably more accessible in some areas than others).

But something has changed in the mindset of kids and I’m not fully buying the idea that kids of my generation (i’m 46) would have shot up schools if only they had access to guns.

Then you lead a sheltered life. We were able to buy the M1 Garand and the 30 cal. Carbine the exact same weapon our forces carried. We just couldn't purchase fully automatic weapons just like today. I bought my very first long gun at 14. So there has been no real difference between then and now as far as the availibility of guns.
The big difference is computers video games and the internet. And a breakdown in the traditional family unit.
