Trends in Manufacturing Jobs

Manufacturing processes are changing, and so are the job skills that are needed. Manufacturers are always searching for more cost-effective ways of producing their goods. That's why, even though the number of jobs is projected to decline, the jobs that remain are likely to be higher paid.

However, they will require education and training to acquire the skills needed.

That's for two reasons. First, the demand for manufactured products is growing from emerging markets like India and China. McKinsey estimated this could nearly triple, to $30 trillion, by 2025. These countries would demand 70 percent of global manufactured goods.

How will this demand change manufacturing jobs? Companies will have to offer products specific to the needs of these very diverse markets. As a result, customer service jobs will become more important to manufacturers.

Second, manufacturers are adopting very sophisticated technology to both meet these specialized needs and to lower costs. Here are six:

Nanotechnology is creating a new era of microelectronics.
Lightweight steel, aluminum, and carbon fibers are making cars lighter and more fuel-efficient.
Bio-engineering creates more customized pharmaceuticals.
3D printing creates prototypes by combining small particles rather than by casting or stamping. However, they are being used more and more to manufacture specialized aerospace components and replacement human organs.
Robots are becoming more sophisticated.
Big data is being used to analyze customer trends and guide product development.

Why do liberals have to dig Trump out. The plans that were in place he tore down, so he's dug his own grave. It's not like you can just turn back time on those things. Not much to do now, except the told you so.

Haven't we boycotted buying products from China in the past ?

If it says " made in China " take a pass !

It seems to work .....

We'll always employ trade with other nations. We can still import some parts from China.

But the problem is that everything is manufactured in China, and their demands are unreasonable. I don't think this is about self sufficiency.

its amazing more libs dont realize this. China is the greatest threat to the American Empire and I fear Trump is the last president who can do something about it. Mainly because weve kicked the can down the road for so long.

if you can find any id be more interested in employment bleeding away into china into vietnam and other smaller countries. That is a better metric for victory.

After MULTIPLE requests to hear the JPP Left's Big Deal With China Plan, that is SO MUCH BETTER THAN PRES. TRUMP's , it seems all they can really do is BITCH, PISS, and MOAN.

Once again: What's the BIG JPP LEFT PLAN to confront and end China's trade cheating, theft, and overall BULLSHIT...?

LET's HEAR IT, ECONO-GENIUSES OF THE LEFT....

it's all trumps now , isn't he supposed to be the big deal maker?

no clue what you are saying. Yes China has it's own "Outsourcing" -it's all part of globalization -
and Vietnam may one day outsource to Indonesia (i.e.)

But Trump has bought the manufacturing jobs back by creating a good business climate here,
as well manufacturing for the NAFTA market

Kicked the can? It isn't hard to see the direct relationship between higher profits > dividends >lobbying, and our trade policies. Many will cite the fact that 'the poor' can now afford a pair of jeans at Walmart, but decades of increasing profits at the expense of domestic employment have gotten us to this point. Those who criticize the labor statistics due to China, are the same ones who have spent decades busting unions, lowering taxes on corporations, and screaming about govt. regulations.

You don't just wake up one morning and change your mind about decades of established profiteering by hiking prices on everything we import.

Or Mexico. Two birds, one stone. And save tons of money/oil on shipping.

Total BULLSHT. There were no liberal "plans" to deal with Red China's crap. Just makeup whatever you want to pretend is true...

It's quite fascinating how this has not been considered a yuge problem until your Mango Mussolini decided it was a good way to drop the markets, so he and his wealthy buddies could have a sale on stocks.

And yet you think we can wakeup one morning and move all Chinese manufacturing here.

The point that the business-chellenged left keeps missing, is the PURPOSE OF TARIFFS , is to REDUCE PURCHASES; you know, like when you and yours TAX TOBACCO and AMMUNITION to do the same thing.

Funny how the left only understands the effects of taxation when it serves The Agenda.

We ALREADY GIVE TAX INVENTIVES TO DOMESTIV MANUFACTURERS...so WHAT's YOUR "BIG CHINA PLANE".

He's not that smart. He's creating a different news cycle because Democrats are closing in on his crime family

Idiot. The purpose of tariffs...in theory...is to create a baseline cost for goods in order to level the playing field. Instead, they're always punitive. Google 'the chicken tax' if you want to understand how tariffs have worked for decades.
