Maine votes out electoral college

The only reason blue states want this is because they got their panties in a wad when Gore lost to Bush and now Hillary. The system has worked well since our founding. My opinion this is nothing more than a bunch of disgruntled blue states that didn't get what they wanted so they are throwing a hissy fit.

True. And, I think Republicans would be complaining about the electoral college if Trump got the most popular votes and Hillary won the electoral college.

Ironically there was talk prior to the 2000 election that Bush could win the popular vote and Gore winning the EC.

It's a reliable disappointment to always hear the stupid party argue against the democratic character of the USA. Stupid fucks.
As long as we are labeling things and conducting purity tests, what do you call a group of people who consider democracy against
their interests?
Fascists or authoritarians or monarchists or anarchists. Pick your poison

Patriots. And certainly not Democrat.

Good article, but I don't remember any Democrats arguing against the democratic character of the U. S. Those who have questioned it just seem to be defending the system given us by the framers against those who want to abolish the electoral college because the popular vote winner is not always elected.

Also, depending on the definition, a republic can be rule by representatives. Those reps are not always elected directly by the people. In Federalist #10 Madison refers to a republic as rule by elected representatives, but only members of the House were chosen directly by the voters. Senators and presidents were "elected" but not by the people.

No one has said it's against their interests; because the argument is that the US is not a Democracy, no matter how many times liberals repeat it.

I listen to the C-SPAN call-in show most mornings and I have heard several callers who oppose the electoral college because they think Trump won because some electors just chose to vote for him rather than Clinton.

Lol, wow.

Not in Red states.

Hilarious, so its free in some states and merits the death penalty in others. It's like Sweden is abutting Borneo. Norway and New Guinea.
No wonder this country is fucked. We need to re-kick their asses back to an even earlier version of the stone age.

We have a massive campaign to kill Planned Parenthood. We have Hobby Lobby who can tell employees if they are allowed to have contraception. We have bills in Red states waiting to be passed, that will outlaw many types of contraception.

And some ask 'Why don't the parents feed/clothe/house the children that they cannot afford?"

I’ll admit my ignorance on contraception but how can Hobby Lobby tell if someone is taking contraception? Do they test women at work?
