Racism Has A Name

Yep, and in other countries too. Where, coincidentally, there are also just as many ppl living with mental illness. Yet -- no constant mass shootings like we enjoy. Hmmm, what do you suppose the difference might be?

One answer. American Liberalism.

Hello Cypress,

Between myself, my male relatives, and my friends I estimate that we have slaughtered 36,049,596,306,195,392 digitally-rendered characters in video games.

Slaughtered them with every weapon known to mankind - assault rifles, shot guns, knives, flame throwers, grenades, brass knuckles, swords, spears, bottles, Molotov cocktails, chain saws and lead pipes.

And you know what is weird? None of us ever felt the slightest compulsion to shoot up a Wallmart full of brown people.

The mayor of Dayton made it clear.

Japan has WAY more video gaming than the USA, and practically no mass shootings.

Hello cawacko,

His point it this. There are (white) people who say they care, want good public schools etc. But they wouldn't actually send their kid to a majority black school that let's say is under performing and then get involved, help fund raise and do all the things that can help turn that school around. That's what he's calling out. He's saying if you really cared you would do that. And he's saying people don't. (And it's true.)

Sanders is a progressive gay black man. He's not calling out black people. He's calling out white people that think racism only revolves around the President and not the other things in life. And he's using schooling as an example.

People are willing to sacrifice a lot for improvement, but few are willing to sacrifice their children or their education.

Hello rjhenn,

The "difference" might be differences in culture and how they raise their children. Being less bloodthirsty capitalist might have something to do with it.

And having fewer guns.

Hello cawacko,

Culture can definitely play a role. Not sure about "bloodthirsty" capitalist. You can look at the stress a number of countries put on their kids to succeed which is basically capitalism.

What I do know is there were alienated kids when I was growing up as well as access to guns. Yet we didn't have the school and mass shootings in near the numbers we have today. Something changed. An alienated kid before could vent to his friends or small groups but now they have access to the world and can have their manifesto's read across the planet and they will be remembered for ever etc. etc.

Well, we did have an assault rifle ban when we had fewer mass shootings. That changed.

Hello Dukkha,

Britain ( London) doesn't have guns, but they have many more stabbings

Compare the body counts.

Nobody sets up an assault knife in a hotel overlooking a country music concert to mow down unsuspecting concert-goers.

Show us the high capacity knives.

Hello cawacko,

People are willing to sacrifice a lot for improvement, but few are willing to sacrifice their children or their education.

I agree, it’s human nature to want the best for your children. I’m going to send my daughter to the best school I possibly can.

Sanders is arguing that attitude is what perpetuates (institutional) racism and inequality.

I would make an argument about changing the education system but that’s not the point Sanders is hitting on. So it can technically be argued both the above points can be true

Hello Cypress,

The mayor of Dayton made it clear.

A good point.

I find it is usually old people, elderly people, and people who do not actually play violent video games who claim that video games turn people into mass murdering terrorists.

One thing the bible-thumpers may actually have been right about: listening to heavy metal as a young man kind of made me feel like worshipping Satan (j/k).

Your graph demonstrates how successful the NRA has been in stimulating gun sales. More guns=more violence.

Excellent point. One amusing NRA anecdote from the past: The week after the 2008 election, the NRA and Reichwing freakazoids were fanning the flames of fear so hard that guns and ammo flew off the shelves in Alaska, till they were bare. You literally go not buy a firearm or ammo for weeks because they were out of stock. Because you know, commie socialist black man coming to take your guns. I wonder how many of those were pawned to buy food in the years since. lol

The usual evasive answer that I get from Trumperoos.

You might as well not even try to have a rational conversation with Toxic Top. It's like

She deliberately misconstrues what you write so that you'll keep responding. It's what attention whores do, you know.

One answer. American Liberalism.

Your graphic's text is too small to read, unfortunately.

How do you figure that liberals are to blame for RWer and/or insane mass shootings? Obviously it's not because we've managed to pass any meaningful firearms regulations. I hope your answer isn't along the lines of the man being perp-walked away from his house, where his wife has a black eye, and he's telling the cops "Well, it was all HER fault I had to hit her."
