Jack & Family rode out Katrina. Other than missing corner of House, wouldn't have missed it for the World.
Water began pouring in at Master Closet. Me and Son #5 went into attic and patched hole with whatever we could lay out hands on, plywood, sheetrock, boards, rags, blankets. Wife screams up "No more water". Team Jack returns as Heroes. As we lay there in the Hallway with a mattress over us, I reassure Wife that there is nothing to worry about. "This is the House that Jack built, remember". About that time the Eye of the Storm passed over us, as though God had heard Jack's Words and confirmed what Jack had told his wife. "See", I said.
About 5 minutes later the wind picks up again. Mmmmm ... maybe 10 minutes later she begins freaking out about 'more water coming into the Master Closet' and ruining all the clothes that she got On Sale at the Goodwill. Jack and #5 Son again dash upstairs to the Attic, "Holy Fuck! Where did everything go?" -->Tip of the Day: The wind blows one way when it comes at you, you enter the Eye and it is calm, then ... the wind blows the OTHER way as it leaves you.<--- Once the wind shifted, all our 'Construction Techniques' blew away and we had to start all over again.
I have a 500 gallon underground Propane Tank, so even though there was no electricity, Jack & Family were able to cook bacon and eggs the next day and sit on the Porch drinking coffee (I have an old time Percolator) surveying what looked like WW3 ... and what Life is like in the 14th Century.
