Hong Kong - tip of the spear in China Peoples' REVOLT against Socialist Rule

Hong Kong is nor revolting against China. Bigpig is as usual, wrong. They are defending themselves against Chinese intrusion. They would be happy to be left alone. China has kept their hands off Hong Kong for a long time because it is a money maker. As time has gone on, the success of Chinese industry has made HK a smaller and smaller part of the overall economy. Xi may have calculated they do not need a bastion of international capitalism anymore.

I chalk it up to the fact that message board wingnuts got their history edumacations from hannity -limbaugh, giving them a misplaced sense of being able to play armchair expert.

But the fact is these rubes are barely even dimly aware of the history of the Russian revolution and European socialism.

^^Marxist moron thinks he knows history.

Every liberal on this forum looks to Norway as our touchstone of democratic socialism .

LIE and LAME. Every liberal on this forum are Marxist morons who believe that Socialism is better than capitalism and will lead to better outcomes than it has in the past. Unfortunately, history is littered with Socialist failures.

Norway is an enormous country with vast resources and a tiny homogeneous population that isn't even as large as the City of New York. It's easy to promote their kind of Socialism without a lot of sacrifice. Over time, however, they too will not be able to support their Socialist healthcare and welfare society.

When did you last read Marx, and what did you read? Can you read? You do well to call yourself a duck, if you quack in this fatuous way. Just as your monopoly-capitalists pretend to be Christians, some of the state capitalists pretend to be Communists? So what. Socialists believe in control by the working class, not a few rich thieves and bullies, and we call one another 'Comrade' because we are. Why not call me a Jew, or a Nigger, or some other of the silly bullshit in your Big Book of Murder? You really are an ignorant bore, you know, and if you have nothing interesting to say you belong on Ignore with the other Nazis.

^^Marxist moron thinks Karl Marx is great.

A tepid assertion - more of a slogan really.

My take away here is that you actually have no scholarly knowledge, no competency to even discuss the context and history of socialism in Europe, Russia and North America.

All you really know is what you heard on Hannity-Limbaugh, eh??

^^Marxist moron thinks he is scholarly. :rofl2:

Perhaps you should read the Communist Manifesto. You can find a copy here.

Normally i would have to charge a wingnut money for history lessons , but this one is free .
Worth what you pay for, since this is not a history lesson of any sort.
Soviet and Chinese communistm are political systems that use a planned socialist economy as a tool of totalitarian state control and coercion
Communism, which is one form of socialism, and fascism, which is the other form of socialism, are theft of wealth. They can only be implemented by dictatorships or oligarchies. China uses oligarchy. The USSR used oligarchies. Russia today is more capitalist, but still has a lot of socialism going on.
In the same way fascism uses capitalist industry as a tool of authoritarian state control.
WRONG. Fascism is theft of industry by operation, not by ownership. The government tells the companies what they can make, how much they can sell it for, when they can sell it, who they can sell to, how much to pay their workers, where to buy their raw materials from, etc. Of course, the owners still own the company. They just don't get any say how it's run.

Communism is where the government owns the industry outright. They ARE the owners.

Both forms of socialism bring misery. It is theft of wealth. Only capitalism can create wealth.

Every liberal on this forum looks to Norway as our touchstone of democratic socialism .
If you believe that. I bet you say, 'Kum Ba Ya" a lot too.

Norway is largely capitalist. It is a monarchy, but so far the government hasn't been seriously attempting to steal wealth and give it to unproductive members of society. Thus, despite the monarchy, Norway is prospering. Norway is not a democracy.

There are currently no democracies anywhere in the world.

You are not discussing history of socialism. You are only pushing socialism.

Norway today is actually rather capitalist. This is despite their monarchy. Fortunately, the monarchy has decided to keep their mitts off the economy for now.

"For Sunday, Hong Kong's Civil Human Rights Front — the movement behind record-breaking rallies in June and July — billed a "rational, non-violent" protest in the island's Victoria Park.

"What we are fighting for is democracy and our rights," said Minnie Lee, a 31-year-old logistics worker. "We're not doing anything wrong. If we stop now, things will only get worse."

Despite China's pro Socialist media and one party rule, ... news of the Hong Kong uprising does make it to the mainland thru friends and relatives.

China has grown its Middle class over the decades, and that could come back to bite the Socialist gov't in the arse, if China's economy goes South and they start losing their jobs and businesses.

The new middle class are not going to go quietly back to a subsistence living on farms. They are educated, brave, and have tasted the greatness of capitalism and personal autonomy.

Bigdog, I give you credit for seeming to care about democracy in the world!

That's a good start! Keep caring, and someday, you may even care about your own democracy- and reflect that in your vote!

The worst thing a person can be called is a Marxist. If they would all commit themselves to a Jonestown solution, the world would instantly be a better place. Along with Nazis, they are the only ideologues for which I proscribe this.

Reminds me of certain other revolutions.
