Former Secretary of Labor Robert Reich explains what the Constitution's Emoluments Clause is and how Trump is entangled in it.

But in the end, nothing is ever going to come of it, bottom line, to prove such you have to have financial records, and Trump knows full well that any request for financial data is going to be tied up in the Courts for years, and even as we are seeing now with the lawsuits he is losing, they are eventually going to go to the SCOTUS, and he didn't put Brett there cause he thought he would make a good Justice

Sad, but that is the reality, and in the meantime Trump is doing his best to make sure he profits as much as he can off of being President

Trump is whore who is always for sale. But what makes him really disgusting is that he is a thieving lying whore.

nothing will come of this because to do so will require saying our first president is guilty of the same violation. the courts will eventually rule that nobody today has a better understanding of the constitution so to claim the same exact activity is all of a sudden a violation would be laughable

Your not going to try to tell us that because George was a farmer at the same time he was President that makes him guilty of using the office of the President to make money are you?

Trump ought to be required to pay back the money that he illegally made from promoting his businesses at tax payer expense.

Did he use the office of the presidency to sell his farm products?

Trump has the SAME BUSINESSES GE GAD BEFORE TAKING OFFICE...TO WHICH HE IS ENTITLED.

When is REICH going to PAY BACK THE MILLIONS HE MADE HELPING ENRON SCREW OVER AMERICAN TAXPAYERS, IMMEDIATELY AFTER HE LEFT THE CLINTON ADMINISTRATION?

DIDN'T THINK SO.

He can keep his businesses, but he isn't allowed to use the office of the President to enhance those businesses, you didn't really think he wanted the G7 at his resort cause he thought it would be nice did you?

Then why is he LOSING MONEY AS POTUS, UNLIKE THE OBAMAS and CLINTONS, WHO BECAME MILLIONAIRES IN THE WHITE HOUSE?

That’s not what the Emoluments Clause says. It refers to FOREIGN influence.

[edit] I stand corrected. Article II section 1 has other restrictions

Yeah, that line Trump donating his salary is a big deal is lame, first off, he easily makes that in his weekend golf junkets to Florida, the taxpayer is picking up the check for his staff and Secret Service detail following him, plus we all know Trump's history with charities not to mention he most likely declares it all as a loss on his taxes
