I know, Republicans have never actually "won" an election in the past 50 years. It's all cheating although somehow the uneducated redneck hillbilly's can figure out how to vote while educated liberals can't.
Indeed.

No question the corporate tax reform, deregulation, conservative judges and increased military spending are straight out of the traditional Republican playbook.
Where he has changed the party is on several fronts. Trade is one. Republicans have never been monolithic on this issue but generally speaking the party has been for free trade. Clearly that has changed now. Remains to be seen what we do once Trump leaves office. Immigration is the other and I don't mean illegals. Reagan and Bush to a degree always spoke of America as the greatest place on Earth and encourage those from all over the world to come here. We now have people pushing to reduce legal immigration and while Trump flip flops on that sometimes he has backed it. The last one is character. None of these a*hole politicians are perfect. We hold them up on a pedestal but at the end of the day they are still people. But we (Republicans) used to give lip service to character mattering and now we've thrown that out the window.
So we'll see what happens. I'm sure we'll all be here to discuss it.![]()
Hello cawacko,
'Working for the people not special interest' is exactly what Bernie is doing.
That has angered the special interests, who have predictably trotted out their most emotional propaganda.
The question is: Do we want an America that works for the people?
Or one that works for the greediest billionaires.
I know, Republicans have never actually "won" an election in the past 50 years. It's all cheating although somehow the uneducated redneck hillbilly's can figure out how to vote while educated liberals can't.
The old Socialist and fanatic, Bernie, has been in Congress for 100 years, what exactly has he done for the working people of America?
He has enriched himself under Capitalism (3 homes and a net worth of 3 million dollars) and now wants to destroy the very system that enriched him...Capitalism.
Dude, 'do we want an economy for the people or the billionaires' is just political rhetoric aimed at emotion.
I'd be careful with deregulation, a good deal of what you call deregulation is actually the loss of consumer protection, i.e., stalling on fidiciary rules, ending some class action lawsuits, slacking environmental concerns, loss of comsumer security, etc
You left out family values, once a banner for conservatism; concern over deficits and debt, which we were told was a core conservative principle; judicial restraint, again, a consistent theme of Republican thought; weak Federal Gov't/Executive power, supposedly central to right thinking; and others of lesser extent
Not necessarily
View it from the millennials postion, they look around and see a deteriorating infrastructure, huge deficts/debts, a failing health system, major income inequality, childhood poverty, failing environment, etc., all which they will inherit and bought to them by Boomer politics, is it any wonder Bernie's rhetoric of change appeals to them beyond emotions?
He profited from his silence after the rigging of the primaries by the DNC in 2016.ah, "earl," he made his money off of his books, lot different than stiffing subcontractors and filing bankruptcies

A new lakefront, 600K home, his third?
He will probably get another one this year.
There's 320 million people in the U.S. and maybe 400 billionaires. Saying the economy is for the billionaires is about appealing to emotion. I'll give you just one example. Are all the boomers who prevent new development and cause the price of housing to rise to unafforable amounts all billionaires? No they are not.

Feb 13, 2020 - Sixty-one percent of Americans believe they are better off today with President Donald Trump than they were at the end of Barack Obama’s presidency, a newly-released Gallup poll shows. ... 52% say it’s easier “to go and buy things in the stores than it was three years ago.”
Oh, got it, another conspiracy, now did you get that one from Rush, Tucker, Glenn, Sean, Bill, or Laura?

As I said, to a millennial, in what they see as the country they will inherit, those hundreds of billionaires, and think what a billionaire actually is, making out while all the conditions I described above exist doesn't make sense to them, they believe there has to be a better way
