The Deplorable Blue Collars, truckers, farmers, smelly Walmarters & bitter clingers

Is it alcohol and drug abuse, or is it mental problems? It's mental problems, isn't it? Wouldn't alcohol and drug abuse stem from mental problems, like addiction, depression, bipolar, etc?

Most academic studies I've read about homelessness cites mental illness as the cause.

You mistake austerity for virtue, which is not empathetic. It's just pathetic.

It can be both, but there are many homeless people who have drug and alcohol problems who have never been treated (or diagnosed) with mental problems. Regardless of the underlying cause, it is not a good idea to give them cash that can be used for drugs or alcohol. Those with mental problems aren't going to use it for psychiatric care.

Sometimes they do use money for food. There was a guy I used to see often at the homeless shelter where I volunteered. One day I asked him why I hadn't seen him for a few days and didn't he want to eat? He said he and his frieds preferred to panhandle to get enough money to eat at McDonald's at 7:00 rather than have the shelter food at 5:00.

Your debates are not based on the best public policy outcomes to help the clients but how we "feel." Empathy does not always result in good public policy.

It can be both

Ah, so now you're moving the goalposts.

Before, you said it was solely alcohol and drug abuse, but then you widened that -very subtly, I might add- to include mental illness, from which drug and alcohol abuse stems.

So...having already moved the goalposts once on this, how many more times are you going to move them so you can get right with your own conscience?

SNAP ISN'T CASH AND YOU CAN'T USE IT TO BUY DRUGS AND ALCOHOL.

Jesus fucking Christ, you're such a piece of shit.

So if you don't want these mentally ill people turning to drugs and alcohol for self-treatment, why do you oppose Medicare for All?????

God, you're so fucking stupid and selfish.

Thanks for giving us Trump.

What is painfully obvious here is that you're talking out of your fat ass, invoking anecdotes no one can verify, filtered through the prism of your inherent biases, so that you can get right with your own conscience for being a morally repugnant, non-working slug with no intrinsic value.

Because you have no value now, according to your own standards.

Helping them by, say, giving everyone free health care, which is paid by taxes instead of directing them to some religious-based organization with alterior motives.

And SNAP isn't cash.

I know SNAP isn't cash but they can sell it for cash. The store give you 40-50% of the value in cash. He then gets full value from the Dept Ag.

Some already get free health care. Those disabled on SSI qualify for Medicaid and veterans get VA.

OK Flash...let me ask you this, as we now sit at home under quarantine for an indefinite amount of time, do you think our current situation -that you have been enabling and coddling this entire time- is the best public policy outcome?

17 million people just lost their health care when they lost their jobs.

According to you, those people should now have to pay for their health care, with money they do not have, from a job your coddling cost.

Best public policy outcome? Nothing you've been enabling and defending, that's for fucking sure. In fact, you own this shit. You own all 17 million of those people who lost their health care. All of that is now on you because you opposed Medicare for All, even when we warned you that something like this would happen.

You ignored those warnings because you never in a million years thought you would ever have to face the consequences of the poor choices you've made.

Remember that as you sit at home indefinitely, as 17 million people lose their jobs and health care, as 16,000 people die, as the economy craters, as the market tanks, and as millions and millions of spouses and children are locked in their homes with their abusers.

All of that is on you.

 So YOU are the liar.:rofl2: The facts remain that educating illegal alien kids is VERY expensive and comes out of the average taxpayer's pocket. A family with 3 kids can cost an average of over 35K a year to a school system. But I know YOU don't care.

OH the source??? Source: 2016 Annual Survey of School System Finances, U.S. Census Bureau

"According to figures from the U.S. Census Bureau, the United States spends $11,392 per student every year. This figure, referred to as per pupil current spending (PPCS), varies dramatically by state. Some states spend over $20,000 per student while others spend less than $7,000"

You are a fucking coward and a piece of shit who enabled this mess, and whose prescription for the 17 million people who just lost their jobs and health care is to "pay for themselves".

Yup. That's right. You want those 17 million people to pay for their own health care, with money they don't have, after they lost their jobs thanks to you coddling and enabling this shit for years.

Another wacko claim. How am I enabling and coddling anything? I am not coddling anything more than you.

This isn't as wacko as saying Trump will cancel the election.

Your discussions of policy always deteriorate into personal insults and wilder and wilder erroneous assumptions and statements.

What do you think the $2 trillion is for?

I'm still waiting to hear how the wealthy got their stock market losses made whole???

Sure you have! You've defended austerity which weakened the social safety net, and forced 17 million people to not have health care. You've defended tax cuts, which depressed revenues, exploded deficits, and didn't produce the growth you said they would. You've defended deregulation. You said we should "give tax cuts a chance to work", even though they were supposed to be "rocket fuel". You've defended Nazis. You opposed Impeachment. You pretend that a Clinton Presidency would have handled this no better, and that's after admitting you practically voted for Trump in 2016

And after all this, you still don't think health care is a right and everyone should have free and open access to it. Even after all this. So yeah, you've been coddling the right wing. You've been coddling Conservatism. And now, as you are stuck in your home along with the rest of us, you still insist that you've made good choices and have good judgment.

Wow.

This isn't as wacko as saying Trump will cancel the election..

Just wait. It's probably going to come.

If it is too dangerous to go to the polls because the disease will spread, and if mail-in balloting is not an option, how are there supposed to be elections?

Your discussions of policy always deteriorate into personal insults and wilder and wilder erroneous assumptions and statements.

Because, Flash, I recognize and understand that what informs your judgment and instincts is your own ego and selfishness. Everything is ultimately about you. Like YOUR judgment on "able bodied people" who don't work. Like YOUR judgment on paying taxes for essential services and assistance. Like YOUR judgment on voting 3P in 2016.

All of it comes back to you. So in your case, the politics is personal. You've intrinsically linked your politics to your person. So I can't attack one without attacking the other.

But by all means, tell me that the political choices you've made are good ones, as you sit at home indefinitely while 17 million people lose their jobs, while millions more are locked in their homes with abusive spouses and partners, as the economy crumbles, and as 16,000 people die preventable deaths.

Was it worth coddling the right wing these years, Flash? Was it worth your shitty protest vote? Was it worth the tax cut you supported? Was it worth it?

The wealthy have doubled their wealth since 2008.

The DJIA is now at 23,700...which is only ~4K less than it was before all this (but still below what it was the day the Russia Tax Cut -that you supported and defended- started).

What do you think the $2 trillion is for?

Corporate welfare, mostly.

The only thing for actual people in that package was a one-time $1,200 check that is counted against future taxes paid in 2020. So it's not even "free money", it's an advance against next year's refund (if you are lucky enough to get one after the Russia Tax Cut reduced most peoples'). For those who don't get refunds? They're going to have to pay that $1,200 back in next year's taxes.

What do you think the $2 trillion is for?

You want to know what you coddling the right-wing looks like?

Not once have you screeched in all this "bUt HoW wIlL wE pAy FoR" that $2T rescue package.

Not. Once.

Not once have you ever asked how we will pay for all this coronavirus relief.

You not asking that question is coddling the right wing, particularly when you disingenuously and dishonestly screech that same question to liberals when it comes to any spending or programs Democrats want to do, even after they show you -repeatedly- how they would pay for it.

You didn't ask "bUt HoW wIlL wE pAy FoR" the Russia Tax Cut, so that's coddling.

Basically every time you have failed to ask that question -which is so important Democrats answer- when it comes to Republican shit, you're coddling the right wing.

So go fuck yourself, you Nazi-loving piece of shit.

How am I enabling and coddling anything?

Because in all of this, you have never once screeched "bUt HoW wIlL wE pAy FoR iT?!"

You have never asked that question when it comes to COVID relief.

You have never asked that question when it comes to tax cuts.

But you ask that question when it comes to Medicare For All, even after you've been given the info on how it would be paid for.

So you coddle the right wing every time that shitty question doesn't come out of your stupid mouth. And that coddling is also enabling because you're lowering the standards for them by not invoking the thing that you screech about when it comes to everyone else.

So Flash, how are we paying for the tax cuts you want? How are we paying for the $2T in COVID relief you just invoked as some sort of good thing for Americans who lost their jobs?

Sure you have! You've defended austerity which weakened the social safety net, and forced 17 million people to not have health care.

Having a balanced budget is not "austerity."

You've defended tax cuts, which depressed revenues, exploded deficits, and didn't produce the growth you said they would.

A lie. I clearly said (over and over) I opposed tax cuts without spending cuts. You lie or have a lousy memory.

You've defended deregulation.

Only useless, unnecessary regulations like the recent rule that regulated the number of cherries in a cherry pie or size of holes in Swiss cheese.

You said we should "give tax cuts a chance to work", even though they were supposed to be "rocket fuel".

Another lie. I never said anything about the tax cuts "working" or think they would necessarily have a good or bad effect.

You've defended Nazis.

Another devious misleading statement. I defended the 1st amendment freedom of expression of all people in response to your terribly uninformed claim that we are free to assault or kill Nazis.

You opposed Impeachment.

Yes, as a waste of time since we knew he could not be convicted in the Senate.

You pretend that a Clinton Presidency would have handled this no better, and that's after admitting you practically voted for Trump in 2016

Two more lies. I said I had "no clue" if Clinton would have handled it better. I said whatever she did she would cover her butt.

I said my vote for 3rd party candidate made no difference in the election results in my state--a point that seems to go over your head.

Wow.

Where do we find this health care right? The Constitution? Federal or state law? It is nowhere to be found. So it is a political choice, not a right. The government already provides health care to about 45% and private insurance another 45%--so most people already have access to health care. Others can get Obamacare if they care.
