I very rarely eat meat and when I do I purchase it at an artisan butcher who sells only free range and locally raised (upstate NY) but look at what Trump and his crime family have done to the USA. I actually approve of less meat consumption but not due to these circumstances

The coronavirus pandemic is cutting into supermarket meat supplies and affecting choices available in meat cases as plant workers get sick, making it tougher for meat packers to meet surging demand.

The pandemic is keeping thousands of meat-plant workers home across the U.S., according to industry officials, leaving crucial work undone and reducing meat production as consumers turn to grocery stores for more of their food amid shutdowns of restaurants, schools and other providers.

I'm 'Blending' more.
I now use 'Chobani' Greek Yogurt.
Banana, Frozen Fruit, Milk, Yogurt, and Honey.
(I stopped using Wheat Germ and am now thinking about adding Flax seeds)

I went to the grocery store yesterday. Every variety of meat was well stocked. Same with all the fruits and vegetables. Never any shortages.

The isles that were hit the hardest were ... the bottled drinks ... the paper goods ... and the frozen dinners & ice cream coolers.

I love grocery shopping now. Not many people like the healthy stuff, they walk right past it. Love broiling a
12oz medium rare beef heart steak...only $3.29/lb and the most collagen-rich food on the planet.
And then have a bowl of plain unflavored Greek yogurt with chopped apple and cinnamon for dessert. Yummo!

Rabbit just made a nest in the Pachysandra against my front porch. I'm good!

Seriously, there's probably 5 or 6 fresh butcher shops within 12 miles of me who butcher local farm meats. No shortage here.

Haven't been in the grocery store lately, but GF hasn't complained there wasn't anything on her list they didn't have, except my freeze pops. Schwan's came through with them :cool:

My guess is that NYC will finally solve their stray dog and cat problem. Rats too if it lasts long enough.

Of course, it is a result of meatpackers cutting corners on safety to max profits. They could have instituted safety policies. It was possible to check workers for Corona and to separate workers. If they needed safety unis, they could have been provided.

Here in upstate NY there was an initial panic and the meat departments were bare. Now they're fully stocked. 'Meat' includes chicken/fish, as well as beef. Not just pork.

We'll see how this progresses over the weeks. This is more a case of Smithfield not taking proper precautions with respect to simple mask/glove usage. Extend that further, and see that S. Dakota refused to take precautions across the state. Now they're going to learn a lesson about how the virus spreads geometrically.

Rats are starving in NYC. It's a fascinating phenom. With restaurant dumpsters empty, the rats are now more than happy to eat the bait left by exterminators.

I bought about 6 lbs. of frozen wild salmon (not that imported watery Chinese crap) while I was there. :thup:

One thing I do miss is the grocery store Hot Food Bar. It's been shut down for a month.

Not surprised rural areas are well stocked. And as you noted, you got a back up if there ever was a shortage at the store. :thup:

There was actually a few packages of TP left at my grocers.
