Supermarkets Adjust Meat Sections as Coronavirus Cuts Supply

I went in for ground sirloin to make some meat sauce for spaghetti - the shelves were almost bare (Publix)

I went to the grocery store yesterday. Every variety of meat was well stocked. Same with all the fruits and vegetables. Never any shortages.

The isles that were hit the hardest were ... the bottled drinks ... the paper goods ... and the frozen dinners & ice cream coolers.

:dunno:

For us the canned chile got hit hard. Guess people can't cook, eh? :D

I'm 'Blending' more.
I now use 'Chobani' Greek Yogurt.
Banana, Frozen Fruit, Milk, Yogurt, and Honey.
(I stopped using Wheat Germ and am now thinking about adding Flax seeds)

I scored large numbers of bananas cheap. Sliced them and froze them. Probably 25 gallons or more. Every day a banana smoothie with whatever “additive” I like. Lots of peanut butter and apples lately. Toss is a handful of spinach, other fruit, sometimes protein powder, flaxseed and I have my breakfast and/or lunch. Had a frozen turkey and made turkey noodle soup for a week.

LOVE those flax seeds, man!

Maybe Ratskin coats will be a new NY trend in the fall. ;)

....or maybe just a new hobby for many New Yorkers:

Wow. Thanks. I haven't used Flax seeds before. I'll take that as a recommendation.

Grind them first or you can't digest them due to the tough seed coat.

Rats are starving in NYC. It's a fascinating phenom. With restaurant dumpsters empty, the rats are now more than happy to eat the bait left by exterminators.

And the climate will improve. Hell, we keep this up maybe the sea turtles won't have about 50 pounds of Sailor's flotsam in their guts.
And the red state old people are gonna croak from their party's disinformation. Lots of silver linings.

Yes...this is getting interesting to watch.

Yup. That's when I discovered that they carried beef hearts. I use it chopped up in my meat sauce for zoodles (which also tastes better than wheat pasta).
Tastes better, cheaper ($3.29/lb) and full of collagen since it's a muscle. Give it a try.:awesome:

Flax seeds have more Omega 3's than fish oil. I make my own crackers using ground flax meal, flax seeds, pepitas, water, "Everything Bagel" seasoning.
Mix in glass bowl, cover, fridge for an hour, roll it all out flat on parchment, oven @ 400 for 20 minutes, let it cool, break it apart in big rough pieces,
put in big freezer bag to keep fresh in freezer. Good healthy replacement for breads and crackers. ZERO carbs.

Always grind them. I make flax seed crackers that are great for snacking. 2 cups flax seed, 2 tbl olive oil, 1 tbl vanilla, 1 tbl agave nectar. 1/4 cup or so of water. I use paint sticks as my depth guage and roll them out on parchment paper. 375 for 30 minutes. Really good. Be sure to puncture the crackers with a fork and score them before cooking.

Yep, pretty close to mine. I’ll have to look for “Everything Bagel”.

I make crackers with blended green beans for my dogs. Great omegas for their coats. Fiber. Protein

You'll find either in the spice aisle or the Latin foods area. The company
that makes it is Badia.

If you'd like the recipe with proper measurements, just tell me. I'm happy to put it up here in the thread.

1/4 c Bob's Red Mill whole ground flaxseed meal
3/4 c flax seeds
2 oz pumpkin seeds (pepitas)
1 or 2 TBS "Everything Bagel" made by Badia ...... or another flavoring of your choice; I've also used cinnamon; also used pumpkin pie spice
3/4 c water

Work it all together into a big ball in a glass bowl
cover with Saran Wrap or even just a dish towel
fridge for at least an hour
flatten it all out very thin on parchment on a big cookie sheet
bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes; I usually check it at 20; with my oven it seems better, browner and crisper at 25 minutes
peel off paper & set on a rack to cool off for about 15 minutes; break it apart in sizes you like;
put in large freezer bag to keep fresh for days in freezer without the threat of mold.
