No Peak Yet. Up To 3000 Deaths Per Day Coming; 200,000 New Cases Per Day...

You Trumperoos point the finger at the left and call them tyrannical, and now you expect people to put their lives and their family's live in grave danger for the benefit of big corporations.
Daycares aren’t open. How does that work?

Judy Woodruff: "We do have these apparently two new grim forecasts today. I want to ask about the CDC report yet. We haven't seen all the numbers. The White House is saying it's not their numbers, but they are talking about, by June 1, 3,000 deaths a day. They're talking about up to 200,000 new cases a day.

This is — this is the wrong direction."

Laurie Garrett:

"Absolutely, Judy. And it's a huge, explosive growth they're predicting.

And it's basically — if you look at the distribution that they are imagining, it's really the Prairie states, the sort of Mississippi Valley, and the Deep South states.

And it seems, I think — though we don't have access to the raw data that they are working with, but it does seem to coincide with these outbreaks that have been occurring inside of meatpacking plants, nursing homes, Veterans Administration hospitals, that have claimed large numbers of workers in those facilities, but haven't yet generalized into the larger community.

And I think they're projecting that there will be generalization, that a typical — an infected meatpacker, for example, might then infect their family members, some of those family members may infect local storekeepers, and so on.

So I think they're imagining a pretty explosive set of growths, all in fairly small remote areas, and, in many cases, rural counties."

Explosive forecasts

The president said on April 16th that the USA has 'passed the peak.'

The president was terribly wrong.

We have not passed the peak yet. It is getting worse. The worst is yet to come.

And now it is moving from the cities into rural areas, moving from Democratic strongholds into Republican ones.

How will that affect our politics?

We can also add Ohio and Illinois to that list. They will also see their highest single day death tolls since the pandemic began. Pennsylvania is also very close to exceeding their highest daily death toll.

Your 'list' and argument is suffering from a base rate fallacy.. What are you comparing 'highest' against? 'Highest' against what?

The numbers through May 1st are actuals, not projections. I guess reading a chart is another skill that you lack.

PA's numbers have been fluctuating over the last 2 weeks, but have been dropping the last few days. Most of our positive cases came from NY and NJ. My county and our local hospitals were well prepared.
As for tests, they opened the parking lot at the little Penguins hockey arena to test people. There needs to be an appointment, but no Dr. referral and they haven't yet come close to testing their daily limit.
PA's Physician General noted that the tables and projections are just that, although they do try to be as accurate as possible. No survivor numbers are out, to my knowledge.

The job losses are the direct result of the virus from China that China failed to contain.

Every country is experiencing deaths and economic distress.

China is to blame, not the US and other countries.
