Man Shot by Police in Kenosha Was Wanted for Sexual Assault "Fleeing felon rule"

Jacob Blake, the 29-year-old black man shot by police in Kenosha, Wisconsin, on Sunday, was wanted on charges of sexual assault, among others, according to the Associated Press.

The AP reported Monday:

Online court records indicate Kenosha County prosecutors charged Blake on July 6 with third-degree sexual assault, trespassing and disorderly conduct in connection with domestic abuse.

No we know why the POS wouldn't comply with police, if there was a gun in his car u can bet if he got his hands on it he would have used it

Fleeing felon rule

At common law, the fleeing felon rule permits the use of force, including deadly force, against an individual who is suspected of a felony and is in clear flight.[1]

It was also reported he was waving a gun around at the bar.

Another saint/martyr for the loony left.

Where does the charge against him make him violent?

The serious threat of violence has to be present at the time, not based on past criminal behavior (although that could cause police to use additional precautions). Using lethal force means that is the only way the officer can prevent serious harm being done to himself.

When someone has warrants out for their arrest, it’s a totally new ball game.

It’s a Criminal - and one with great motivation to escape. Many Cops are killed by those wanting to escape Capture and their date with Justice.

If he has warrants they can place him under arrest and take him to jail.

They cannot shoot him because he has motivation to escape---that would apply to 789,000 people with outstanding warrants for felonies and serious misdemeanors (probably millions more for traffic offenses).

Ummmmm...... isn't that EXACTLY WHAT THEY WERE ATTEMPTING TO DO????

I would note that the shooting suspect has an ambulance chaser for a liar... err, lawyer. His case is already floating in the toilet.
Meh, expected. The fact remains that Blake was probably headed for a stint in jail. Even so, that's not a death sentence. Time will tell about the officer who shot him.

I'm guessing you and I can agree the other two officers should be completely cleared of any wrongdoing.

Yes, but arresting someone and taking them to jail does not involve shooting them in the back. Shooting is not justified just because they are trying to escape. The "fleeing felon" thing is old common law and does not supplant state laws or constitutional law.

If the guy was reaching or getting into his car he could have been going for a gun. The cops have no way of knowing and it is not their job to put their lives at unnecessary risk just to make a bunch of people who hate them no matter what they do happy.

The thug knew they were trying to arrest him but he fought with them, resisted arrest, tried to flee and attempted to enter a vehicle that was itself a deadly weapon which he could have ran someone over with.

It's time for society to pull their heads out of their asses about these shitbags.

When the cps come to arrest them, they need to sit still, shut the fuck up and cooperate.

Then they won't get shot.

Honestly, I think most of these jerks want to get shot.

If he had a rape charge and priors he was looking at double digits in prison. Add in a history of violence and he would go to a maximum security facility on top of that. Probably not what he wanted to do...

I certainly agree that a person should cooperate with police and follow orders. But, if they do not, they should not be shot unless they are about to inflict serious injury to the officer (or another person).

I am also very aware of the dangers police face and they never know what is about to happen. But they cannot decide somebody "might" be going for a gun and shoot them.

It seems officers should have more non-lethal weapons (like rubber bullets) which might stop the person; or, they should be able to shoot and wound the person. I know that is not current policy because they say a wound would not always stop him. There were 2-3 cops which seems they should have been able to get the guy handcuffed.

That's why he wanted to get away, no doubt. But 7 rounds in the back while trying to enter a vehicle is excessive. A non-lethal crippling shot could have been made at that range even IF the officer could see a weapon. If he could see one, he has a semi-automatic handgun to take any further shot. Were there other officers there with guns drawn? Did they already identify him and know of his background?
If he tried to drive away, other officers could block him with a cruiser if he tried to leave. There would be ample time until he started it, put in gear and started moving.

To be honest, a quick death is probably infinitely preferable to what he'd face in jail at the hands of other prisoners.

So, because this guy was wanted on multiple violent felonies and tried to escape from police custody, he was shot. Too bad for him. Maybe if he survives, he can learn not to be so stupid next time... That is after he does several decades in prison...

Yeah but he didn’t want to be arrested so the cops should have taken that into account

So what if he was reaching into his truck where they couldn’t see his hands?

The cops should have given him a minute or two. They probably should have left him drive off and who know what happens?

Rape isn’t a big deal to leftists and their brethren NeverTrumpers now

I don’t lose sleep over these fucking thugs getting shot by cops.

I am always hearing about this so called “talk” N word parents have with their N word kids. Apparently they leave out the part about not resisting arrest.

When the cops randomly shoot some N word kid walking home with an organic chemistry and calculus book under his arm with no criminal record come call me. Until then I don’t give a fuck. And if the N words want to burn down their neighborhoods that is on them.

Come on that’s funny. Some black kid in the hood with an organic chemistry book
