The point is the second failed Trump removal [third, counting Mullet] it’s that Zaid was never so much as questioned for his calling for a coup.

I don't see much of a connection there.

But it is important to note that there is more to an impeachment than removing a sitting president. The voters already did that. He needs to be prevented from ever coming back.

There’s never been a post-removal impeachment of a president before. It’s novel.

Democrats have spent four years conjuring up different ways to get at or get rid of Trump. And in the process they have done considerable damage to institutions and constitutional norms.

There has been no post-removal impeachment. He was impeached while still in office.

What's novel is an American president who first gathers, then incites a mob; which then attacks the capitol.

Not true, for several reasons.

If Trump is guilty of inciting an insurrection, indict him for it. Then see how the charge stands up in an actual trial with standards of evidence, witnesses and etc. The fact that isn’t happening is instructional.

This ‘trial’ is political theatre intended to damage Trump and the MAGA movement and it’s not hard to figure out.

Trump could be held criminally responsible in a court of law now that he is no longer president. This infraction occurred while he was president. The proper oversight for a sitting president is impeachment, which is why he was impeached an unprecedented second time. It is unprecedented because we never had such a bad president.

If convicted, he could still be legally indicted for exactly the same thing.

Trump was rightfully impeached while he was president. And now he is being rightfully tried because, and I quote directly from the United States Constitution:

"The Senate shall have the sole Power to try all Impeachments."

No stipulation is provided for one who was impeached, and then voted out.
