Nearly 40% of Marines have declined Covid-19 vaccine

Hello Darth,

Overwhelmed with what, sick Marines lol?

Do you know what the Covid CFR is for healthy 20 somethings?

You're completely overlooking the very prescient point, which was also raised by myself and several others, that this disease can be carried by young strong individuals who show no symptoms, and don't even know they have it, and then spread to others who are more vulnerable.

I suppose you did give it some consideration in your rather callous comment that: "the nursing home population is largely taken out of the equation by now."

Which aside from being indifferent to the plight of those old people who are not ready to die just yet, is simply not true. There are still plenty of vulnerable people in our society as evidenced by the 1000 deaths per day, and the fact that Serious and Critical Cases are on the rise.

In post #181 on this thread I asked this question ...

Just a simple yes or no question for YOU ...

Have YOU served in the military?

I repeat it in case you missed it

So should all Americans be drafted and serve

What is your point of needing his personal experiences for you to allow him his right to an opinion and his legal vote

Hello evince,

We should give 40% of OUR marines to Russia?

Unequivocally a bad idea.

Just order them to get the shot, done deal.

And go full hog on a program to get racism and extremism out of the military.

Bent people need to get reprogrammed about what is right.

That was a joke

If they are taking putins side over America’s side is that good

No

And every red blooded American should agree

Investigate

Which they are doing

And deal with them individually as needed

Get straight with the facts or leave the military

Then any of them that choose the lies are free to do what they want

It’s legal to go to Russia and immigrate

From the looks of your post ... you haven't served either. Yet both of you feel free to urinate on a organization you know nothing about. But the real irony is ... in YOUR marquis you state that "TRUTH MATTERS" ... YOU PHONY HYPOCRIT.

Then why are wasting vaccines on a group of young people who don’t need them when half of them don’t even want them? If there are still *vulnerable* people who haven’t been vaccinated then why are we fretting over Marines?

Because healthy marines could spread it to others, it helps defend America for all of them to get vaccinated.

No choice need be made between marines or nursing home residents. Everyone can get it. There is or soon will be plenty of vaccine for everyone.

Healthy Marines can’t spread it to the vaccinated vulnerable lol.

Allow everyone else the freedom to choose what they do with their bodies.

When I visited my kid last weekend, he expressed that they were having similar problems where he's stationed in the Army. They've made it difficult to get the vaccine, and they aren't doing a good job of selling the benefit. He's heard talk that it may become mandatory.
Doubtful that will ever happen.

The problem with that reasoning is it makes the incorrect assumption that all other vulnerable people will be vaccinated. They won't.

Marines can be ordered to get a vaccine.

The general public can't.

And you’re assuming there’s going to be enough vulnerables left [between the vaccines and natural immunity numbers] to duplicate last year’s crisis.

Dubious assumption.

Hey, nice duck job. But really all you did was try to steal my argument.

And I noticed you couldn't defend placing vulnerable people in further jeopardy, so you tried to flip it around on my argument.

It doesn't matter whether last year's numbers would be duplicated. Even having hundreds of Americans dying from this is too much. We don't want anybody dying.

And also,

We don't know what's ahead. We need to do everything we can to protect the American public. There will certainly be further mutations. What if a new variant began affecting more people in a stronger way?

Deal with it if/when it happens. What guarantees are there the vaccines will help against them.

The first responsibility for protecting the vulnerables lies with the vulnerables themselves. It’s to the point where there’s no excuse for high risk people to not be vaccinated. If it’s not to that point, it’s getting closer every week. Trump had Biden set up when Biden was installed in the WH. The kinks should be worked out by now, and if they aren’t, then it’s the fault of Biden and the governors.

It’s not fair to ask young people to risk putting something in their body which could possibly harm them down the road, for the sake of people who aren’t willing to get vaccinated—but should.

The battle is shifting to one of trying to get enough people vaccinated to stop the virus. There will be a strong PR campaign to do this, and we certainly don't want the military possibly transmitting the disease. All methods of eradicating this virus must be taken before the situation gets worse. And no, we do not want to wait until that happens before taking action. That's what Trump did, why it's so bad, and why he got legally voted out. Wrong approach. We need forward looking leadership, not backward leadership.

Part of the problem with getting people on board is the goalposts are constantly shifting. What is this, Day 350 of Flatten the Curve? They told us we could lose the masks after the vaccinations but then Fauci changed his mind. The man’s mind changes like the weather in March.

Stopping the virus [if that’s even possible] is something we can look at after we get this economy opened up ALL THE WAY. After the ballparks are full, after live music is back, everywhere and all the schools are open.

Then we’ll look at stopping the virus. And oh, and after we get the border under control. We can’t stay Covid obsessed 4-ever. This country does actually have other problems.
