3 men accused in death of Ahmaud Arbery now facing federal hate crime charges

XII. The Events of April 19, 1993

The bottom line here was that Koresh could have been taken in town on almost any Saturday. The ATF wanted to be on the fucking news (Congressional funding PR effort) and they got what they wanted. Afterwards, dozens were dead for a public relations stunt.

Finally something I can agree with.

Thanks. It's amazing what people can discover when they look toward the center instead of to the extreme. :)

One of my favorite cautionary tales:

A little bird was late flying south for the winter when it was caught in a blizzard. It became so cold the bird fell to the ground in a barnyard nearly frozen. As it lay there, a cow wandered by and accidentally crapped on it. The warmth of the cow crap thawed out the little bird. Finally being warm again, the bird was happy and began to sing for joy. A cat heard the singing and came to investigate. Finding the little bird, the cat dug him out, cleaned him off and ate him.

Moral of the story:
1) Not everyone who shits on you is your enemy.
2) Not everyone who gets you out of shit is your friend.
3) When you are warm and happy in a pile of shit, keep your mouth shut!

The Time piece seems to back my assertion.

I saw a documentary many years ago. Of course, considering the source is always important. I don't remember who did the doc.

It can certainly be argued that the FBI went looking for a fight, and found one. I'm not sure how many times a teargas cannister started a fire in three different locations in the past?

And the wounds on the dead seem to prove that Koresh was responsible for the mass deaths.

There can be a valid argument re. why the FBI opted to start that aggression. Once they got there, and Koresh fired upon them, it escalated

I was still in the military at the time and watched the events unfold with interest. The anti-government movement ( remember "jack-booted thugs"?) was growing in that era.

It was the ATF, IMO, who royally fucked up. The FBI was called in and the siege began. Orders came from DC to end it and Americans watched the results burn to the ground.

No cowardly threadbans as usual.

ATLANTA — A federal grand jury has charged the three men accused of killing Ahmaud Arbery with federal hate crime charges.

The grand jury in the Southern District of Georgia handed up the indictment on Wednesday.

Travis McMichael, his father Gregory McMichael and William “Roddie” Bryan are now also being charged with one count of interference with rights and with one count of attempted kidnapping. Travis and Gregory McMichael were also charged with one count each of using, carrying, and brandishing — and in Travis’s case, discharging — a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence.

Are the hate crime charges justifiable in this case?

It looks like Travis is going to be sucking Aryan cock for 20 to Life. Not sure what will happen to his father and Roddie Bryan...the friend who recorded everything! LOL

It was a black guy jogging for exercise. The homebuilder says nothing was taken. The 3 bigots were acting of hate and racism. They had no reason to attack him. Zero. They're not cops.l They were poorly trained vigilantes. This was simply murder most foul.

I think Travis will be luck to escape with a life sentence. He deserves a spike in his arm.

Greg McMichael will get 20 years, and "Roddie" will get five to ten...

Good. I hope you're right.

Talk about provocation. These guys thought they'd play cop and then executioner. I bet that if the guy jogging by had been white, they wouldn't have given him a second glance.

I'm actually thinking about heading up there and seeing if I can get to watch some of the trial. I'm not sure what's involved in accomplishing that, but I'm gonna' try. It's only about 90 minutes from me.

Maybe I'll just wait outside the courthouse with my camera so I can capture that Pulitzer-winning photo of the moment the riots start because the wrong verdict was handed down...
