Successful at what? They were unarmed and unorganized. They would have left in a few hours out of boredom. The certification would have gone on as planned, possibly a day later.

On the steps you can see the aluminum crutches used to attack the police officer whose helmet is barely visible at the bottom of the picture.
The man in the black sweatshirt with camouflage backpack has just thrown a Trump flag at officers.
The man in the khaki jacket has a pole of some kind that was used to attack the police officer.

There was no insurrection. Nothing got torched. The only people killed that day were the UNARMED protestors, one of which was shot by the Capitol police.
