Does it specify federal government? An insurrection is an insurrection.

The Portland protesters usurped local government authority through violence, and by definition, became insurrectionists. You don’t get to cherry pick your insurrections.

Lol, that’s a real stretch there, 61. It’s like when you claimed there were only 61 cases of COVID.

If 1/6 was an insurrection so was Portland CHOP.

CHOP lasted weeks. 1/6 a matter of hours. CHOP accomplished a full insurrection since it fully usurped government authority by way of violence; in contrast, 1/6 was a failed attempt.

I’ll leave to the reader to decide which was the more effective insurrection or whether they are comparable.

Again, I'd like to point out a fairly significant differentiator: 1/6 was at the U.S. Capitol.

So no - Portland wasn't an "insurrection" because 1/6 was.

The goal of the Portland protesters was changing the policies and practices of the lawful government, not to overthrow and replace the lawful government. The goal at the The Capitol attack was exactly the overthrow of the Presidential election and replacement of the lawful President elect with the loser of the election.

But those like yourself who say the Portland protests were an insurrection have no standing to complain about an insurrectionist definition of The Capitol attack.

There’s this wonderful invention called ‘airports’ and they have planes in them. Find one near you, procure a ticket and board a flight and get to Portland. It went on for weeks, so travel is no excuse.

I expect you to be at the next leftist insurrection when it occurs. No excuses this time.

Why do you want me to interfere in State's Rights? Why are you dodging the question about Trump invading Oregon?

Lincoln did more when South Carolinians attacks Federal facility. Why was Trump such a gutless pussy? Is it because, like in his draft-dodging days, he's just a fucking coward?

Opie, you're the one screaming about commie marxist socialist muslims taking over the US government. Now you are admitting you refuse to do anything about it? Like Trump, are you a fucking gutless coward too?

creating an autonomous zone is an insurrection by your def. they did replace the lawful govt

Yeah, I saw that. Who could have imagined cops would ever say ‘screw this’ and move on once the local government abandons them.

Hey lefties, here’s an idea: why don’t we start defunding some of these alphabet agencies instead of cops who are actually protecting the citizenry *instead of spying on them* and running honey pots, huh?

What do you think?
doing the same on NYC, and yes the alphabet agencies are drunk with power -backed by Biden
giving them more power

On 8 June, after a number of increasingly dangerous clashes between protesters and law enforcement, police officers in a popular area of downtown Seattle abandoned their precinct.

This is from the BBC but it’s typical of the reportage of the *rampant* leftist violence last summer.

Note the reference to ‘protesters’ clashing violently with police. Aren’t they rioters when they turn violent? They sure are any time it involves right wing ‘protesters’. How did the BBC editor miss that?

At any rate, the ‘protesters’, through violence, essentially ran the police out of their own precinct. Straight up, the ‘protesters’ usurped government authority through violence and that equals an insurrection. It’s textbook, in fact.

And here’s the subtext: why is it a big deal to the left that Portland CHOP isn’t an insurrection when any rational person would instantly recognize it as such—since it clearly meets the definition of one? It’s because the political importance of 1/6 to the left can’t be over stated. 1/6 must always be described in the most hyperbolic terms; hence, the outlandish comparisons to Pearl Harbor or 9/11 or etc.

There can be no other insurrection besides 1/6. Especially, one carried about by raging leftists.

couple of square blocks -not "yards"

neither was an insurrection - just a mob taking advantage of cops not doing their job in the Capitol or Portland
due to political pressures from above

Yep.

Credit to DO, though. At least he's not going the denial/hugs & kisses/they looked like tourists route.

He's going for the "sure, it was an insurrection - but liberals did the insurrection thing first!"

Well, that’s how this started.

I advocate waiting for an actual charge that *meets the legal definition* of insurrection, and then, we’ll discuss the 1/6 insurrection instead of the 1/6 riot. And you’re right: neither was a insurrection according to law. But according to the dictionary it’s another matter.

And I was pointing out that a precinct level of insurrection—is still an insurrection.

The larger point is that 1/6 flowed out of nearly a year of leftist mobs in the streets. Rioting, looting, bashing cops in the head with bricks and etc. It didn’t spring up out of thin air—it occurred within the context of political violence that went on through most of 2020. In fact, it only missed happening in 2020 by six days.

dictionary describes what it is -
but doesnt describe just how are planning, fortifications, strategy, and cause is crucial to a genuine insurrection.

This aws a riot -a crime of opportunity.. CHAZ zone pretty much the same
If there was push back with cops - enough to control a crowd. and neither would happen
