Another super spreader event

As for super spreader events. Today in Jacksonville, there will be hundreds of them. At every bar, restaurant, gym, hair salon and movie theater in the city. That's where we are now in Florida. UNF hospital has seen over a 1,000% increase in Covid hospitalizations in the last month. Here's a little taste of what it's like here right now.

Average new cases in Duval county, last 7 days - 918 (6,425 total)

Hospitalizated are now under 40, with 90%+ unvaccinated.

Walk in testing is no longer available anywhere. Appointments are booked anywhere from 3-7 days out. Wait times at the one testing site that offers walk ups is measured in hours with results coming in days. Urgent cares are full. Wait times in ERs are lengthy unless there is an immediate emergency like a heart attack or stroke. And yet... no masks, no social distancing, no public health measures. DeSantis will not allow them. This is the state of things in Jacksonville, Florida. It is a shit show, and it is going to get much, much worse.

Yet how many of those who end up hospitalized will gleefully continue to vote for DeathSantis should they survive?

They don’t care, or they would care about the southern border super spreader event that runs 24/7.

As long as you were failing to focus, why did you single out the southern border? Why not every airport, the Canadian border, shipping ports of LA, Savana?

Racist.

Curry, who is a Republican, has actually done a pretty good job, but his hands are tied by the Governor. I've never seen anything like this. I took my wife to an urgent care at 3 P.M. They told her they couldn't see her because they closed at 8 and they had more than a five hour backup. It's that bad now, and every day it gets worse. I never saw this coming. I thought we were going to have a normal summer. Sadly, I was wrong.

I hope she's okay. Were you able to get other medical care?

Your situation illustrates why these outbreaks are so dangerous. The unvaxxed disease-ridden morons are depriving smarter ppl of necessary health care by their ignorance and stupidity.

Hello Concart,

Yep. There is nowhere worse in the entire country that here. It's almost exclusively delta variant. Because of the lack of testing, those numbers are probably severely understated. It would be interesting to know the positivity rate here. But DeSantis is hiding it.

He can't take the truth.

She had been throwing up for about 24 hours and really needed an IV. We were turned away at the urgent care, so went to an ER. Four hours and multiple unnecessary tests later they let her go. I couldn't come in, or I'd have put a halt to that crap. I intend to tear up the bill. But yes, my guess is that it'll be a few thousand dollars instead of 15. Why? The urgent care was too busy with unvaxxed morons. We're both better. My biggest issues are a) my kid can't go to work, and b) I can't care for my parents, who rely on us for basic needs. We visit three times a week. I don't even have any test result yet, and I really can't go back until I get a negative. We're supposed to fly next Thursday. That may be out now.

I just looked at the 14 day projections. Florida is forecast to have almost 25,000 cases a day in the next two weeks.

Well agreed, because if you don't test, you don't know. But those who seek a test might be more likely to have a reason to. So positivity in the whole pop might not be as bad as you fear.
How are your symptoms now? You said you suspected you got it. The bad news is breakthrough infections are basically 10%, the great news is nobody is dying or being hospitalized (in the main) if they are vaccinated.

Unvaccinated people are just playing Russian roulette while drunk with kids around them.

Hello Darth,

The CCP bug knows nothing of whataboutism and doesn’t care.

Calling it that?

More whataboutism that solves nothing and worse, it is a hatred superspreader term that foments cowardly terrorism violence against innocent older Americans when seriously messed up young people attack them from behind and push them down onto concrete.

Injuries like that take longer to heal in older people, and sometimes they never do.

A half second of acting out results in months/years of pain and misery.

For nothing but a lie.

This does not make America great.

Alabama had a 40% positivity rate. They have fewer cases per 100,000 than Florida, so my guess is Florida is around the same. We both started feeling crappy about a week ago. That was a week after attending a party where five people tested positive, and one ended up in the ICU. They all lied about being vaxxed. Georgia dumb fucks. The ICU guy is a fat white fuck that had a Trump 2024 hat on.

I had a couple of days of difficulty breathing and a bad cough plus headache and stomach issues and fatigue. I mean REALLY bad fatigue. I couldn't walk to the kitchen without getting winded. Wife had the same. We just couldn't imagine both having a breakthrough case until we found out about the positives from the party. That was last Thursday I think. By then I was feeling better, just tired with a headache, but she was vomiting, so we ended up in the ER. We were both tested on Friday. Results are expected on Tuesday. We are both pretty much normal today. If we had it, and I'm pretty sure we did, the vax did it's job. This was mild, even though it felt really awful for a few days.

I'm so sorry. May things improve for you and yours quickly.

This is a good example of why so many of us call the willfully ignorant unvaxxed selfish. Their refusal to take steps to keep themselves healthy affects others, not just themselves. It's no different than a tobacco smoker blowing his carcinogen-laden exhaust into your face.

Thanks, looks like we may be back to normal today, which is good. The vaccine may have saved us a hospital stay or worse. But we've paid for their selfishness, and so will everyone else. I think this city will have to shut down for at least a couple of weeks. If they don't, the hospital system is going to break.

The tards don't care. At least until they need a hospital bed and there are none left. I'm glad you're doing better.

Read your post about your symptoms. I came back from a visit to VT two weeks ago. Within a couple of hours of arrival here, I started in with a sore throat, headache, cough, aching, fatigue. Thought it was just a cold. (Hoping it still was.) But it went on and got worse for several days, till it finally went away exc. for the cough. Now Mr. Owl has something similar. There was one guy hacking his head off in the back of the plane from here to Detroit. Now I wonder if it was the virus.

Not out of the question. We know of at least one friend with a confirmed breakthrough case, so it is happening. More likely in Florida than Vermont, but you never know. One thing I never had is a fever, so it may not have been, but it might just have been the vax keeping me safe.
