The Germans uprooted from Prussia had a lot of Eastern European genes.

They were probably 60-70% Old Prussian & Polish / Wendish by genes.

Maybe 30 to 40% German by genes.

Even East Germany as is today is about 20 - 40% Wendish Slavic / Polish by genes.

What genes came before that? At best you're only going back a couple thousand years, probably less. What cultures have lived and died before there were Germans, Poles and Slavs? Who were their ancestors?

I like to think of Poland as a mix of Corded Ware Culture Kurgan Aryans with R1a haplogroup & more indigenous WHG Cro Magnon types with a Mediterranean type like LBK.

Germanics are probably more LBK & Celtic Basque than Poles.

LBK had I1a haplogroup which peaks in Sweden.
But is relatively high in North Germans too.

Although Germans are more R1b haplogroup like Basque & Welsh.

Some think R1b is Celtic.

I'm not so sure.

Basque on PCA plots fall far West European.
