In a way, Trump was right.

There was a conspiracy unfolding behind the scenes, one that both curtailed the protests and coordinated the resistance from CEOs. Both surprises were the result of an informal alliance between left-wing activists and business titans. The pact was formalized in a terse, little-noticed joint statement of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and AFL-CIO published on Election Day. Both sides would come to see it as a sort of implicit bargain–inspired by the summer’s massive, sometimes destructive racial-justice protests–in which the forces of labor came together with the forces of capital to keep the peace and oppose Trump’s assault on democracy.

The handshake between business and labor was just one component of a vast, cross-partisan campaign to protect the election–an extraordinary shadow effort dedicated not to winning the vote but to ensuring it would be free and fair, credible and uncorrupted. For more than a year, a loosely organized coalition of operatives scrambled to shore up America’s institutions as they came under simultaneous attack from a remorseless pandemic and an autocratically inclined President. Though much of this activity took place on the left, it was separate from the Biden campaign and crossed ideological lines, with crucial contributions by nonpartisan and conservative actors. The scenario the shadow campaigners were desperate to stop was not a Trump victory. It was an election so calamitous that no result could be discerned at all, a failure of the central act of democratic self-governance that has been a hallmark of America since its founding.

dems, this is your time of reckoning. the powers that be told you they cheated. will you still cling to lies?

do you prefer hell, lies, and Lucifer or what?

this is a spiritual battle. who you wit?

That's all. lol

ahhh deflecting once again... didn't obama have a 17 trillion dollar one?

What better way to argue against deflection than to do it yourself, yes?

The bill won't bankrupt the country any more than the similar Trump administration bill would have. If you are going to claim that argument you need to make it, which certainly is well beyond you. To the extent that higher taxes are needed to pay for the bill Democrats aren't the party opposing them. High income earners have seen their rates fall dramatically from what they used to be. The nation had some of its most prosperous years, in fact, when the top rates were near 90 per cent. The wealthy can well afford to have some of those reductions scaled back cry about it as they will.

Republicans opposed funds for the IRS to increase their staff to pursue tax cheats and recover tax revenue. I wonder why that is?

you're a retarded idiot.

this bill is about 10% infrastructure and 90% corruption payola.

fake money fuels Lucifers realm.

So, do I.

In Trumplandia teabaggers (www.teaparty.org) think the police and the military are on their side.

The only ones on their side are traitors and Russia.

I wanna see Dotard, his regime and crime family rot in prison, with a prison cam of course.
Agreed.

Not after they attacked the police and demeaned the military. These assholes are in for a very rude awakening very soon.

Should a person who only donated money to a group to overthrow the United States of America and our Constitution serve the same amount of time in prison as those who actively attempted to overthrow the our nation and Constitution?

IMO, the dividing line should be non-violent and violent. Those who donated money can do six months on prison with a felony on their record thus preventing them from voting and owning firearms.

$20 says it's because, like the ex-prez, most tax cheats are rich and Republican. They're those who own their state's Senators and Representatives....mostly the Republican ones.

I thought this immediately when I heard they objected to the measure.

Hello martin,

The rich can afford it and have been getting a free ride on low taxes for a very long time. The rich were rich when we taxed them at 94% they lived in luxury.

Once somebody has enough money to live in luxury they can afford to pay very high taxes on everything above that, and the country needs it.

Many of our bridges have long exceeded designed lifespan.

At the asylum????
More likely a retirement facility for dementia patients. Most of the wackadoodles on JPP are Euro-American, elderly with age-related mental issues.

Text Drive, Bulletbob, Truth Detector, Grokmaster, etc. all show signs of advance age and a loss of mental acuity. They each only have a narrow range of communication skills; primarily spreading anger and hate.

IMO, this is common among some elderly men as they weaken through age. They feel like they are no longer "men" and must prove themselves by acting like assholes on the Internet. It's their primary window to the outside world.

Notice how they don't chit-chat, they only vent their venom. It's classic displaced aggression. They are scared and the hate allows them to feel better because they have nothing else. Mostly I ignore them (unless I'm feeling ornery) since there is nothing to be done for them and most will be dead in a few years.
