That it is. While chicken, beef, and fish are popular, pork outsells them all in Japan.
Pork requires very little space to raise, compared to beef. Pigs don't graze. They eat anything you feed 'em (excepting orange peels, which they don't like). Even individually wrapped restaurant crackers aren't a problem for them. Just dump 'em in the pen. They'll just eat 'em, then spit out the wrapper.

The SOTC economy is dying. It's why so many people are moving OUT of the SOTC.
U-Haul can't even keep up with demand. They will PAY people to dead head trucks back into the SOTC.
