The Fed is about to raise interest rates and shaft American workers – again

Shaft workers? How about shafting the nation? If the interest rate rose just 1%, it'd all end up being added to the national debt too. After all, all new treasury bond releases would carry that higher interest rate and that would mean larger payments on outstanding debt and any new debt incurred. The Fed is in a "we're totally ass fucked" situation now. Interest rates are essentially zero and raising them only screws everybody. They can't go lower or they'd be...

Wait a minute...

If they went lower everybody starting with millionaires and billionaires would be on welfare! The government would be paying them to buy bonds and treasury notes!

Raising rates doesn’t screw everybody. If it helps lower inflation that’s a good thing. It offers a higher return for savers and retirees who are often on fixed income and have their money in very safe investment vehicles. Slowing down asset bubbles can be argued as a good thing as well.

A 1% interest rate is meaningless. I wouldn't invest in anything with that return rate. I'm retired, twice! Me? I invest in land, hedge funds, equity accounts, and the like. In fact, I'm about to sell two one acre lots for double what I paid ten years ago. Can't get that at 1% interest. I have to call the title company in the morning to start that ball rolling... I have a one o'clock with my personal banker tomorrow too... (not thrilled about that)

Yea, whether you want to believe it or not, I'm technically a millionaire. That's a paper fiction, but it's true. Maybe I'm really worth more than The Donald! That'd be a real hoot!
