The very appropriate parallel to Germany in the '30s

It's the usual piss and wind from Boortender Effete. He needs a Slow Uncomfortable Screw Against The Wall with the Deshbot.

We will end you the second you try your violence again

You are the enemy

Your embrace of lies outs you for what you are loser

If we don't learn from the past, we're doomed to repeat it.

No one took Hitler or the Nazis seriously in the early '30s in Germany. No one believed democracy was in danger. No one believed a dictatorship was possible, or that the atrocities that followed were even within the realm of imagination.

We think the Constitution protects us. But we came one VP away from ignoring the Constitution in 2020. And if Trump had taken power, who knows what would have happened?

There is no mistake about it: Trump WANTS to be a dictator. He's also trying to ensure that enough key operatives are in place in swing states to overturn the next election, if that's needed. This is all happening in broad daylight.

You can "TDS" and "Godwin's Law" this stuff as much as you want. But it's a real danger, and we need to start paying attention.

If you don't think that the Democrats are doing the very same thing, it's YOU who is the danger to democracy

My point is, if Trump wanted to remain in power for life, don't you think he'd have done a lot more in the FOUR YEARS he was in office? You trot out Jan 6--a three hour riot that ended up doing NOTHING as some huge proof that Trump was intending a dictatorship. Are you-- yea, you are-- You are fucking delusional!

If you had a real case to make, you'd have way more, massively more, than that stupid assed riot on Jan 6 as some sort of proof to make your case.

Our existing Democratic system failed to crumble like you Cock suckers hoped

It’s over

You lost

Loser

It is Jan 6. Trump organized a violent coup.

Agreed. Although I'm not sure if Trump will be charged with treason or sedition, it appears his followers are going to prison for various lengths of time. Some up to 20 years.

The irony? Trump promised pardons and then fucked over thousands of his own fans, even the Trespassers, leaving them with Federal convictions and, in many cases, prison sentences.

Note that those who defend Trump's treason and theft of national secrets are probably guilty of those crimes themselves. It wouldn't be the first time a Navy Chief was convicted of selling Navy property and classified material to the highest bidder.

Example: https://www.dhra.mil/PERSEREC/Espionage-Cases/navy2/

1988 - DAVID FLEMING, Navy Chief Petty Officer, was convicted by a six-member military court on 4 October 1988 for the theft of 16 Secret photographs and four classified training manuals that he had at his home.

What solid actions outside the rather outlandish claims made about Jan 6 from the Left indicate that Trumps wants to be a dictator? He had four years in office. What actions in those four years can you point to (other than Jan 6) that substantiate your claim?

It doesn't sound like you've read a lot about Jan. 6, and the days & weeks before it took place.

Nah. You're just doing your usual "liberals are even worse" thing.

Nothing has come remotely close to the danger Trump poses to the republic. This is ridiculous whataboutism.

I don't think liberals are worse, I think they are every bit as bad as republicans. your blue glasses are clouding your true sight, so naturally you need to resort to 'whataboutism'............

I don't like either party. But Trump is a unique animal in EITHER party.

He has made the outrageous normal. 20 years ago, no one here would have believed how close he came to overturning an election and ending the republic. Many here are still in denial about it.

There are a lot of MAGA fat asses on this board who would have cheered and celebrated if Trump had successfully been able to engineer a military coup.

We would have heard all kinds of rationales. "The system just wasn't working anymore"...."elections were too easy to rig - we needed a strong-armed leader"....

We were already hearing a lot of "America isn't a democracy" arguments from that side. The demographics are changing too much, and they know it's going to be harder & harder to win elections. Many of them don't want a representative democracy anymore.

Yes...PRES.MORON AND THE FASCIST-O-CRATS' POLITICAL WEAPONIZING OF THE DOJ/FBI, IS ABSOLUTELY PARALLEL TO HITLER'S OWN GESTAPO

What the fuck are you talking about?

1) EVERY politician, probably wants to be a dictator.
Prove I am wrong?

2) Trump is NOT POTUS.
He has little power now.
Biden is POTUS.
You are freaking about a situation that does NOT exist.

3) Trump is a man child.
But he is NOT Hitler.
He is not anti-Semitic....in the least (like Hitler was).
He has not written a book about needing more 'living space' for Americans (like Hitler did).
His tone is NOTHING AT ALL like Hitler's.
Trump's term in office was absolutely NOTHING like Hitler's first four years in power.
NOTHING.

Comparing Nazi Germany under Hitler to America in 2022 is beyond silliness.

You missed the point of the OP.

The circumstances are similar to Germany in the '30s. That doesn't mean that it's an exact apples-to-apples comparison between Hitler & Trump. But the main point I was making was a charismatic leader who wanted to be a dictator, who no one took seriously enough. Part of the reason Hitler was able to ascend so quickly was because the people were unsuspecting, and didn't think something like that could happen.

That's it. I'm not saying Trump is an anti-semite, or genocidal maniac. Nice try, though.
