What does being a veteran have to do with anything? People don't do brave things because they served in the military. Would it make a difference if the killer had been a vet?

Personally, it means they have been through basic and at some point might have developed some combat skills and perseverance.

I included it because I think sometimes Trumppers are very impressed by it, and would assume a vet would never be transsexual.

Mr. Owl took Krav Maga classes the last couple of years we lived in the STL area. There were women in his classes; they sparred with each other when they were practicing the punches. However, when they practiced being grabbed by an aggressor, they sparred with males. He said that they were just as good as the guys at breaking away, at tripping the attacker, and knocking them down. It just takes the right training, lots and lots of practice, and the will to hurt the other person.

Krav Maga is a discipline that teaches you mental tactical aggression as well as physical, it uses street fighting, it’s very practical as a means of defense.

I guess because they are trained to fight hand-to-hand as well as with weapons, and if they served in combat maybe they have some experience with that in real life?

Good question about if the killer had been a veteran. I imagine that along with the outrage and sorrow, there would probably be the assumption that his service fucked up his mind, by way of explanation.

It sure seems to be. I had to kind of learn it myself in self-defense, because when he's learning a new physical skill, he acts it out in his sleep. There were flying elbows and knees all night long. :rofl2:

Mr. Owl's experiences were the point I was trying to make and which the others disagreed. A trained woman can take a lesser or untrained male of larger size and strength.

The ex sgt who actually subdued the shooter was not a transexual, but was with his wife and family to see a drag queen show. The Navy officer that helped was the transexual.

That is simply incorrect...which is what more than one person has pointed out...why is that a problem?

While you are correct on hand to hand combat. That doesn't mean that a person is brave enough to face an active shooter, so to me mentioning veteran status is just fluff. The media loves to flaunt vet status when the vet does something bad.
