Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade Database figures (the standard source) show about
388,000 Africans disembarked in mainland North America / what became the US.
Historian Robert C. Davis (Ohio State), in
Christian Slaves, Muslim Masters and related work, estimated
1–1.25 million European Christians were captured and enslaved in the Barbary states of North Africa (mainly Algiers, Tunis, Tripoli, plus Morocco) roughly 1530–1780. He derived this by estimating the steady slave population (around 35,000 in peak periods per contemporary observers) and the replacement rate needed due to death, ransom, escape, and conversion.
