Why are there term limits?

He was a liberal, not a "democratic socialist", whatever that is. He was in the same political vein as Democrat Presidents who followed him, Kennedy, Johnson and Obama, possibly Biden. He was sick and physically unfit for a fourth term and died just a few months into it, but after three terms he had practically cemented himself in the office which in the aftermath of his presidency was seen as unhealthy for a democratic government as it had been unhealthy for him.

Wrong and stupid. He would be called a right winger by today’s moronic Democratic Party.

I’m familiar with the history of course, and while he was liberal I had never really heard him referred to as a democratic socialist by other Democrats.

So Jarod’s post caught my attention and with multiple board liberals liking the post I thought maybe I was missing something. Hence the question why the Democrats haven’t nominated another DS.

If Roosevelt was a "democratic socialist" then they have nominated at least three others. The term is just a bit of name calling by Right wingers who see "socialist" as a dirtier word than "liberal" which usually is dirty enough for most of them. Roosevelt was a "socialist" like

It’s possible we’re talking past each other, or I not being a Democrat am missing the joke.

I’m going to assume author of the meme, calling Roosevelt a DS, is not a right winger.

With the Bernie movement, then AOC and now Mamdani (along with other Congressional seat holders, Mayors and city council members) the self identified Democratic socialist movement is picking up some momentum. It’s not right-wingers calling them that. The DSA has its own platform.

So that’s where I’m getting lost here.

You are not lost. The democrat party is in denial they are being used as a stepping stone for socialism/communism. The democrat party created the DSA. They allowed it. Now they think just denying it will make it go away.

"They allowed it"? How were they going to stop it? Democrats still hold to the view that this is a free country.

Consider the alternative: The Republican Party under Donald Trump, a supposedly democratic (small "d") poltical party that has submitted to effective one man rule. Whatever Trump says goes with today's GOP. It's especially farcical in light of the utterly self serving personality of its leader.

This is exactly why democrats are being taken over by the DSA. The DSA by the way despises the current democrat party. Your party is not only building them the hangman scaffold, you are giving them, freely, the noose's to hang you all with. The DSA is not hiding this. At all.

You don’t think the Trumppers would be screaming that social security was SOCIALIST” if they were trying to inact it today? The TVA? The WPA? FDIC?, the CCC, Fair Labor Standards Act? The CCC?

The put out a poster with the word SOCIALIST under Obama’s photo for Obamacare.
