Some people stay with the boats during down times but yes....the NAVY has been pushed too hard for years......because the Empire has massive agenda's and a small NAVY. There is also the port infrastructure problem......it was cut too far......on any given day too many hulls are not available......forcing the ones that are to run at too high an op tempo.

They actually are pretty much the same thing. Been there done that. You haven't. In port, all E-1 to 3 live aboard ship. E-4 to 6 only get BAQ and BAS if they're married and that's no picnic since the pay doesn't begin to cover what it really costs to live in the states carriers are homeported in. You're single? You live on the ship, or you're broke and have an apartment off it. Hell, you can't even really own a car unless you are willing to let it sit in an open lot on base for 9 + months while on deployment.
Most of that doesn't change in port. Worse, during limited availability or yard time, industrial work is going on all over the ship. That can be worse than being at sea.
You have no clue what it's like. I have years of experience. On the Enterprise my berthing compartment had 152 people in it.
They are referring to unrepaired damage to the coating on the steel, not actual holes in the steel. It's a regular maintenance item and they are well behind schedule for those.
Interesting as the Navy had for several years used ineffective paints in an effort to save the planet......I assume this practice has been changed but the Navy is likely still suffering from its low quality coatings problem.
The Lincoln is suffering from deferred maintanence.
And low morale and almost certainly crew shortages and resupply problems and unsustainable op tempo and perhaps low quality coatings.

The "coating on the steel" is called "Non-skid." It's an applied paint. It is normal for a carrier doing flight deck operations to have some of this peel up. Nothing new, and nothing that effects the carrier's readiness. It can be applied by hand by the crew but it would curtail flight ops for about 48 hours to do that.

Actually, one of the problems is DEI forced on the Navy. That is a problem that Progressive, Leftist, Democrats created.
The video says they leave because they can't take the environment aboard ship. That's part of the job. It's a reason they shouldn't be there to begin with.

I'll add this, because it reinforces what I stated. It isn't morale so much as just the Navy treating junior enlisted (E-1 to 6) like shit on ships.

When I was short to the door, I started having to go to sessions (variously) with officers and recruiters both to document why I wasn't reenlisting and to try and sell me to reenlist. Nuclear power operators were highly sought after to stay in. Training cost a fortune, took two years, and the Navy was trying desperately to keep us on active duty.
At one such session, I was in an officer's stateroom, discussing a multi-page questionnaire I had to fill out. He came to a question that read: "What could be done to improve current crew's living conditions." That was the exact question, and I remember it perfectly after 50 years. My answer, which I also remember, was "This question shows an ignorance of current crew's living conditions."
The officer read that and looked at me. "Well, that explains that one."
At the end of the interview, he asked, "You're not going to stay in, are you?"
I replied, "No sir."
He said, "I don't blame you."
Without a long explanation, I tore into a recruiter at one session thoroughly, aggressively, and completely, that he was speechless. After I did that, he didn't say a word to me or ask me anything out of the 20 to 30 sailors in that classroom on the island of the 'prise, for nearly 45 minutes that the session lasted. He studiously avoided eye contact and saying anything to me.
I enjoyed doing the reserves. That was fun. I liked the varied duty. It was a 180 from active duty.
It wasn't a morale issue so much as a hostile work environment. Morale is far more about how you get along with and feel about your co-workers than it is about how you feel about the 'company.' That is, you can get along fine with your co-workers and peers, and you do your part because you don't want to let them down even as you hate and despise your employer.
If anything, the leadership lets sailors down. Officers are trained to be detached and distant from enlisted. Too many Chiefs don't give a shit or are simply to busy to really intervene. There is virtually zero team building in the rank structure. Instead, everything is highly stratified. It creates layers of separation where there should be bonds. The system is set up to fail the very sailors it claims it wants to keep.

The current paints the Navy uses will last years in service. A ship need only be painted once every several years at most and can easily go up to 10 years without a new paint job. The flight deck is just a really harsh environment and that wears that non-skid out. That mostly happens around the arresting wire system where you have steel cables, tailhooks, and planes landing on the deck causing massive wear. Elsewhere it usually doesn't wear out even after several years in use.

Annabelle Loma has spoken with her husband only a few times since he attempted to jump overboard from the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln during his current deployment.Communication has been difficult to come by, and he is now on medical hold.
Loma, who lives in San Diego, said her husband had been repeatedly overextended before he tried to jump from the carrier.
"He's scared," Loma said. "He thinks he'll get a dishonorable discharge, and just because he was burnt out, his 13-year career is ruined, just like that. That's not fair, that's not right. That's not what he should be worrying about right now."
Loma said she initially received a call from the ship's ombudsman after the incident but has not heard from anyone with the Navy in recent weeks.
Lincoln's roughly 5,000 sailors and Marines remain on a deployment that began Nov. 21. The carrier has been deployed for more than eight months while supporting U.S. military operations in the Middle East against Iran.
The deployment, which was anticipated to end in May, has been extended with no publicly announced return date.

In a separate incident aboard Lincoln, a sailor on watch saw a shipmate preparing to go overboard, and he intervened, according to the sailor's wife, Maria Rodriguez.
Rodriguez said her husband called out to the sailor before reaching the individual and grabbing their arms, pulling them onto the deck. Her husband told her the sailor had not yet gone over the side when he got there. Three other sailors heard the commotion and came running to help.
Rodriguez's husband told her about the incident several days after it happened.

During Nam' deployments were 9 months aboard ship, I remember powered eggs as fresh ran out, that said every few months we went off station to subic bay in the philippines for supplies and port call. Not a lot of room on a destroyer, no excuse for low provisions on a carrier or to be relieved of duty in the short term

Trump launched the war against Iran without congressional approval on February 28 and initially said it would last four to five weeks. On Wednesday, he said a deal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and help end the war could be announced this week, according to The Associated Press.
Navy veteran Brett Snow, whose son is also on the Lincoln, warned that conditions on the ship could lead to disaster, noting that an aircraft carrier was an extremely hazardous workplace even during peacetime.
“It’s the most dangerous place in the world already, and now you’re grinding it out, day in and day out, with no breaks,” Snow said. “It’s an environment that’s ripe for accidents.”
