The more I watch the political response to measles, the more convinced I am that some Democrats are more interested in winning the political argument than actually getting vaccination rates back up.
Whatever you think of RFK Jr.’s history on vaccines, there is a very simple fact that keeps getting deliberately obscured:
Since becoming HHS Secretary on February 13, 2025, Kennedy has repeatedly told people to get the measles/MMR vaccine.
Meanwhile, the national decline in kindergarten MMR coverage started years before Kennedy took control of HHS and fell substantially during and after the COVID era.
If your actual objective is to rebuild trust and increase MMR vaccination, stop creating the illusion that there are two political camps on whether people should get the measles vaccine.
There aren’t.
When politicians are handed an opportunity to stand together and deliver the same public-health message, yet choose instead to manufacture partisan division, I have a difficult time believing vaccination rates are their highest priority.
At some point, it starts looking a whole lot more like winning elections than winning back public trust.

Measles, TB, hepatitis A, varicella, and other vaccine-preventable or screenable illnesses do not check a visa.
Anyone infectious can transmit — legal traveler, citizen returning from abroad, parolee, or someone here illegally. No reliable immunization record means you cannot rule that pathway out.
The Amish and other groups have had religious exemptions for decades. Kindergarten MMR coverage fell before RFK Jr. took HHS. So “thanks to RFK they came back” is not a complete account.
How many people are in the country illegally with no reliable immunization record? You don’t know.
CDC doesn’t publish measles cases by immigration status.
Could an unvaccinated or undocumented-status arrival seed a case?
In principle, yes — the same way an unvaccinated tourist or an unvaccinated American flying home can.
Is that what the 2025–26 outbreak investigations actually show? If you have those investigations, cite them.
If you don’t, don’t pin the whole resurgence on one man and skip the pockets that were already under-vaccinated.
